Author's Note: Really short drabble. Usually a one-shot takes me around six hours to write, and if really short, like 'Arms', only two. This took less than an hour. XD

Breakfast

"Mum," Sora froze, surprised as her mother walked into the kitchen. "I thought you were in Kyoto with Dad this weekend . . ."

"He had a last minute meeting to attend, so there really was no point for me to go," Toshiko explained, as she began pouring herself a cup of coffee. She looked over at her daughter's boyfriend, who was eating breakfast. "Good morning, Yamato."

"Good morning, Toshiko," Yamato politely returned. Her name still rolled off his tongue awkwardly, despite the fact that Sora's mother had insisted for years that he call her by her first name instead of 'Mrs Takenouchi'. He also felt more than a little uncomfortable that he was only dressed in boxers and a singlet in front of his girlfriend's mother. "Would you like some eggs? I can cook some more for you, if you want."

Toshiko smiled. She really liked Yamato; he was polite, respectful and intelligent. More importantly, he made her daughter happy – she'd been a witness to that for years. "No, that's quite all right, Yamato. Thank you, though." Despite the fact that the two had been dating for a ridiculously long time, Toshiko found it cute that they were still so affectionate with each other. The blond boy (man?) had one of his hands intertwined with Sora's as he used his other hand to eat breakfast.

Sora was less than enthusiastic about her mother's presence, and was silently giving her sharp looks – signalling that she wanted her out of the kitchen ASAP. But this only made Toshiko want to stay and tease them for a bit. "Did you two have fun last night?" she asked innocently. Her daughter and her boyfriend were in their early twenties, so it was to be expected that the two were sexually active. It just so happened that last night had been a perfect demonstration of this fact.

Yamato's pale face turned bright red as he looked over at Sora to avoid her mother's amused gaze. Sora, though blushing herself, still managed to glare hotly at her mother. How dare she.

Toshiko chuckled. It wasn't that the two had been particularly loud, but that the walls of the apartment were notoriously thin. And what's the point of having a daughter if you can't make fun of her? "Yamato has excellent endurance," she quipped.

"Mum!" Sora admonished, flushing scarlet. Yamato choked on his eggs and started coughing as he turned an even deeper shade of red.

Toshiko just laughed at the couple as she made her way out of the kitchen with her coffee.

End

This was fun. :D Written with the assumption that all parents, even reserved ones, like making fun of their adult children in adult situations. :P
