Light and Dark
Five years, seven months, and 12 days. Only five years, seven months, and 12 days until Will Turner comes home from being captain of the Flying Dutchman. He would come home to find a wife that stayed faithful, to find a son eager to meet him. The light that seemed to shine in happiness will enter all of them. The light that filled Elizabeth's soul the first time Will told her of his love for her. The light that touched the couples' hearts when they recited their wedding vows.
Those were the good times, but for now, though they tried not to show it, the family's hearts were full of darkness.
The darkness Will felt when his childhood friend was captured by Barbossa's crew. The darkness that wiped the light out of Elizabeth when her husband was stabbed, and nearly killed.
There wasn't a day she longed for his presence, or a night she wished for his embrace. Their son was already asking questions about his hero.
For five years, seven months, and two weeks, they would remain in darkness. When he returned, the light would burn in all of them, glowing brighter than before.
