Kayly fought back tears as she hugged her brother David. She had known leaving would by hard, but not this hard. She had never been apart from David, Leni, or Pom for this long before. The tears burned hot behind her eyes as she hugged Ilena.
"I'm going to miss you." Ilena said, crying openly. "Why can't you come with me to the Convent?"
"Me, a lady? As if."
"Why not?"
"I thought you knew me, Leni. I could never be a lady, with all that pink and frilly dresses. Eeeehhhh!"
Then she said goodbye to Pathom. She cried hard into his shoulder. He was her best friend, and the closest to her in age. "Don't forget me OK?"
"How could I forget you?"
Roul was coming with the horses.
