Deception and Betrayal

Prologue

The dragon crept stealthily through the night glaring at the world through cat-like eyes. Its scales were a beautiful crystalline white that sparkled underneath the full moon. There was a noise and a long, slow hiss emerged from the mouth of the majestic creature. A shadow stole across the ground, and the thing that cast it was not of significance at least in the land of Deltora. The face was hard, its features seemingly sketched out in the crude light. The figure's nostril's flared slightly, taking in a deep breath.

"You are late," the dragon hissed.

The creature's lipped curled in disgust apparently not caring what this dragon thought. "Is it all set?" he said menacingly.

"Do you not trust me?"

"No," the figure said, "I do not. Is it done or isn't it? If not… well you can guess the consequences or perhaps your feeble brain cannot comprehend such pain.

"You mock me," The dragon bared its teeth eying its companion with huge yellow orbs. "It is done."

"And the king?"

The dragon lifted its wings and a flicker of flame slithered out of its mouth. "That is a job you alone can do, I have done too much already."

"Oh," the figure said scornfully. "Worried about your pride? A bit late for that now."

"Stop," the creature hissed warningly.

The figure, which could be called human, laughed. "Just be ready, until the time draws near, and then prepare to fight."

"I refuse to call you master," The dragon growled.

"I believe," the person smirked, "You just did."

I know, too short, but it will get better, I hope. Anyway, this is after everything and Leif has his children and everything. Please review, yep that little button is meant to do something!
