A/N This is my first fanfiction, so reviews are welcome. I figure I might as well start you off with a little background. The story takes place during the latter half of the timeskip, so the ages are as follows:
Shikamaru: 15
Temari:18
Okay that's it. Enjoy.
The Sound War
In Sunagakure...
Lazy Crybaby... Sabuku No Temari thought, Will you be there for me when I need you the most...
It was a fateful day in Suna, for the city had been attacked, and was now at the brink of losing, a long and bitter battle with the Sound Village over Suna. No on else had came to aid the village from the Land of Wind or elsewhere due to the subtlety of the attack.
The Sound came in very quickly and cut off all communication lines, so it was nearly impossible to relay any message about their plight. The only real way to accomplish anything at this point would be to send a messenger. This person would need to be physically fit and strong willed. This person would also need to have an ally or two in the village of choice.
This was the perfect job description fo Sabuku No Temari, eldest sibling of the Kazekage, Sabuku No Gaara.
"Temari. We will not be able to hold out for much longer. We are losing, face the facts." The middle sibling, Sabuku No Kankuro stated.
"That is why you must go to Konoha. Tell Tsunade." Said the Kazekage stoically.
"See if you can put together a relief force of Konoha ninja too. We are running pretty low on shinobi here." Kankuro said
Temari was usually the stronger sibling, but this mission really struck a cord with her. She was at speaking terms at best with most of the Konoha shinobi, but nothing more. But then one certain lazy leaf chuunin popped into her head, Nara Shikamaru. Can I trust him? more importantly, though, will he trust me...? Well, looks like I may have to do some convincing... Temari thought as she bade her brother farewell and silently exited Suna, many thoughts buzzing around inside her head.
In Konohagakure
Shikamaru smiled at the site of his sensei's face as he recieved the bill from the waitress. It was first shock, but then relaxed. Chouji, Asuma, and himself had all gone out to the barbecue place again, and Chouji had about twenty or so strips of meat. He had only two, as did his sensei. He looked at a peice of still undercooked meat that Chouji seemed to be eyeing.
"I wouldn't." Shikamaru advised.
"Nonsense. It looks fine now" Chouji said, mouth watering.
"Do what you want, Chouji." Shikamaru said, giving up the argument. Chouji snickered as he greedily finished the last, rather rare rib.
"I got to go now. Thanks for the food." He said motioning over to Asuma. Asuma nodded.
"Going to go watch some clouds, now, my lazy student." Asuma snickered.
"Yeah, I am actually. You are so perceptive, sensei." He said, the latter response facetious. As he got up to leave, an odd thought ran through his head, I wonder how troublesome woman is doing...
Somewhere outside of Suna...
Temari had just finished off her final assailant. Ten or so had been stalking her ever since she had secretly left Suna. Five had given up and went back to the village. She had finished off the others. After some more walking, she saw a good sign, "Konohagakure, 5km NW"
Lazy Crybaby, ready or not, here I come...
A/N Yes, I know the story starts without enough explanation, but it was meant to be suspenseful, not informative. Oh yeah, I had to delete that last one mad quick because I forgot the disclaimer :(. But the story will get more intersting as it goes on. You'll like it.
As I said, reviews welcome
