Looking down into a pair of mini crimson eyes, Tohru's red lips curved into a smiled. "The rat had tricked the cat, leaving the cat all alone, and missing the Zodiac Banquet." Tohru explained as she told her story recollecting when her Mom told her the same way. Kyuru started speaking at one year, almost two years old, but wasn't young enough to year the story. Uncertain of how Kyo would react to it, Tohru waited until she felt her daughter was at the appropriate age.
Crimson eyes slightly widened as Kyo stood at the door watching his wife tell their daughter of the cat from the Chinese Zodiac. Tohru never said a word to him that she was going to, but this is something her Mom did to her as a child. What was his daughter going to think of it?
As Tohru emerged to an end, Kyuru had crystallized tears flowing down her cheek. "Mom, I'm glad I was born the year of the cat!" She declared. "I feel bad for the cat!" The young child's nose sniffled. "The cat was really left out every year?"
Looking at her daughter's reaction, Kyuru reminded him so much of her mother, Tohru Sohma. If it had been my daughter who knew me instead of Tohru, would she have accepted me?
Lips curved into a smile Tohru replied, "The cat was often left out, but than a teenage girl came alone to take care of the cat. You want to know what else? The other animals needed care too. The young girl also took care of them, and the cat was finally included."
Though the tears continued to flow, a smile shaped Kyuru's lips. "I'm glad the cat was finally included, Mommy! When you told me he was left out, I wished I could hold it."
Smiling with a satisfied look Tohru responded, "I'm sure he knows."
Curious red eyes gazed up at her. "Mom, how did you and Daddy fall in love?"
Silenced filled all corner's of the wall in the room for a few seconds. "I'll tell you when you're older. It's time to go to bed now. Goodnight." Leaning down, she gave her daughter a kiss on her forehead, and hugged her. As she sat up straight, Kyuru stretched her little arms out toward Kyo. "Night Daddy!" She said, awaiting a goodnight hug.
Walking over to him, he freely received her hug, and embraced her gently smiling thinking a day like this would never come. As a teenager, he never wanted to admit it to anyone, but he did dream about falling in love one day and getting married. There wasn't much use thinking about it then because he knew what was going to happen. However, having Tohru in his life completely changed his fate. Not only did he eventually get Tohru as his girlfriend, but they also got married, and had a child. "Night Kyuru." He said grabbing Tohru's hand, and paused at the door. Both looking back at their child, they watched Kyuru drift off to sleep quickly.
After closing the door behind them, Kyo turned to Tohru and said while grinning, "I'm ready for another one."
