A "what-if" story of what might have
happened at the end of eclipse- SPOILERS. Edward makes Jacob promise
to take care of Bella if anything happens to him during the battle.
Edward has disappeared and 2 years later Bella is still recovering.

Had I known it would be the last thing I ever heard from him, I would have gladly let Victoria Kill me then and there.
Tears welled up in my eyes once again, streaming down towards my bed, across my temples, soaking into my unruly hair. This wasn't the way things were supposed to end. He was MY Edward. He was supposed to be here with me. We were going to spend FOREVER together It was all planned out! My wedding was coming up- I was going to become a Cullen, in every way. We were soul mates, no matter where we were.
I still reasoned that he hadn't really ceased to exist. He was out there… somewhere. Even if Alice's stupid visions couldn't see him anymore. Even if Esme had come to grips with it, and Jasper, Carlisle, Emmett, Rosalie, the whole world had decided that it was true- he wasn't coming back- somehow I didn't believe it. Still, I hadn't even told him again that I loved him.
He wouldn't have gone without saying goodbye.
