What! How…?
Oh, I'm going to kill Alice. I'm going to murder her! But I really don't feel all that badly about it. If you ask me, she's had it coming for a very long time. I mean, the girl just doesn't know when to shut up! Why I'm best friends with her is beyond me.
"Well? Are you really in love with me?"
Bloody hell, he asked me again. How am I supposed to respond to that? Really, what do you say when James Potter asks you that? And so suddenly. What kind of a person asks that in the corridor between classes without so much as a hello first? What am I supposed to say! Particularly as I really am in love with him, and have been for forever, and never admitted it, and only just told my best friend (in the utmost confidence, I might add), and she went and blabbed. I am so going to kill Alice!
Oh Merlin, those eyes. I have to say something.
"…Yes."
I hate to admit it, but I really feel that I can't outright lie to the man with whom I would quite frankly like to spend the rest of my life.
"But that certainly doesn't mean that I'm going to go out with you!"
Now why ever did I say that?
"And why not?"
He looks so adorable when he's angry.
"Because you are a stupid git! Besides, you've made it quite clear that you could care less about me."
Oh yeah, that's why.
"How the hell can you possibly think that I don't care about you? I've been trying to get you to go out with me for six years! Six bloody years, Lily!"
True.
"Yes, well, actions speak louder than words."
"And just what is that supposed to mean?"
"What it means, James, is that although you may have asked me out constantly for the past six years, you've also insulted me and teased me mercilessly everyopportuity you've had!"
Also true. Heavens, why are men so 000confusing?
"I've insulted you? You're the one who called me a stupid git!"
"Well, that's because you are."
Duh.
"Well you wanna know what I think, Lily?"
"Not particularly, no."
I thought I wasn't going to lie to him.
"I think that I am in love with you."
Shit. I knew I shouldn't have told him! I need to learn to listen to myself. But still, one would hope that one's soul mate would refrain from teasing one about something so serious.
"James…don't tease me about that, please."
"What! Lily, no! I- I'm not teasing at all!"
If only.
"Well if you love me, then why have always been so awful to me? And why have you slept with every other girl in our year?"
"What! Who says I've slept with every other girl in our year?"
Gee, let me think…
"Every other girl in our year."
"Well, they're lying."
Uh-huh, sure.
"All 25 of them, James?"
"Yes, all 25 of them, dammit! I haven't slept with anyone."
I couldn't help myself, really I couldn't. I scoffed at him.
"Are you honestly telling me that you, James Potter, handsome Quidditch star, whocould have nearly any girl in this entire school, have chosen to save yourself for marriage?"
"Well, not marriage, necessarily…. Just you."
Whoa.
"You really mean that?"
Please, in the name of Merlin, do.
"I really do. I really do love you, Lily."
"Well, that still doesn't explain why you've never said one nice thing to me in the entire course of our relationship."
Why did I have to say that? He just said the one thing I've been waiting nearly my entire life for, and I have to go and call him on it. I'm going mad. No, scratch that, I already have gone mad. But really, how can anyone help but loose their sanity looking into those eyes? Which, by the way, do certainly seem to be shining with some pretty intense emotions. Holy crap, he really does love me.
"Like you said, I'm a stupid git."
Basically. Oh Merlin, he's going to kiss me.
Wow, James.
No, wait, don't stop!
"Lily. I love you."
You already said that. Shut up and kiss me again.
I love you too.
Oh, and Alice? Thanks.
