We both know that it's futile, this hope that snakes through our veins as we stare at each other. We will never be accepted for what we are, despite our education and the supposed civility of our world. If we were to be caught in a hug or a simple hand-hold, we would be ostracized or killed.
Despite all this, he stretches up to his full height and wraps his arms around my neck, big amber eyes caressing my face.
"I love you Rem," I whisper softly, because no one can stop my head spinning or my heart pounding when he turns those big, haunted eyes on me.
"Love you Padfoot," he whispers back, his voice husky and small, because he knows we'll never stop fighting for what we have.
