Chapter One: Alice
I knew for sure that I was dead.. There's no way that I could be alive after that bright and powerful beam. Everything around me was a void.. I couldn't see a thing. I changed my mind about being dead as soon as I had heard footsteps heading in my direction. Large hands had had me by the shoulders, and shoved me from where I stood.
"Put on some lights. May as well let the prisoner see her new boss." The voice was more feminine than my daughter's. It itched at the back of my neck like I knew her. As expected, the lights went on; where my eyes had lied contact with whom I could not believe.
She was younger than me, that's for sure; couldn't have been older than 21. Green eyes inherited from our father's had locked onto mine. Her purple hair had a stream of pink highlights. I couldn't help but feel disgusted by the mix of color. I had nearly vomited in my throat.
"Susan." I glared at my younger sister. She had immediately scoffed.
"My name isn't Susan anymore, Alyssa." She hissed. "Refer to me as the Queen of Hearts."
"Queen of Vomit is more like it.." I said, scanning my surroundings for an escape route. No windows in sight. However, there was a door. That's when I had felt a lightbulb flash above my head.
The guards holding me down by my shoulders instinctively pulled their arms back when I had leaped into the air. Some guards they were; as they stood no chance against my kicks.
"What do you want, Queenie?" I fired.
"I've been watching you, Alyssa." She stepped behind me. "You and your little game of caped crusaders and nutcases. It wasn't long before you turned yourself over to the side of the heroes when you found out the truth of little X." Susan walked back in front of me, immediately deciding that her emerald ring was more interesting than this conversation. "That Elizabeth of yours—or Yuri, or whichever—she had potential, you know?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You really don't know? The god of creation, Lucius? He's our grandfather." She smirked when she decided that the ring had enough attention.
"Liar." I snapped.
"It's not at all near daddy's side, no no no! Mother is a daughter of Lucius. Haven't you felt it before? The power resonating between your finger tips?"
She was right. I have felt the power numerous times before. Especially when around Spyral, my loving husband. It was a stranger silver.. But that didn't mean that Lucius was the cause of it. Plenty of metas like Poison Ivy, the Flash, and Captain America all have these amazing abilities, but no god ever was the cause. I had decided to play along for a bit. "Let's say what you're saying is true..." I began. "This would make Elizabeth his great-granddaughter..."
"That's correct. So you're not a complete idiot.." She continued. "She has to go."
"WHAT?!" I nearly screamed.
"She's too powerful, dearest. When she realizes the amount of power she has, she'll stop at nothing to rule the Era."
"You're lying!" I cried out.
Susan had smiled. "I'll have to kill her myself then.. I was hoping that you'd be able to do it; being her mother and all—" She was interrupted when I had tackled her down.
"If you touch her, I swear to God that I will rip you apart with my bare hands." I growled, unprepared for her to kick me off from her. I stumbled backwards. The metal bat she had swung at me didn't help my condition either. I had fallen to the floor; the room was beginning to fade again.
"So long, sis!" The Queen of Hearts loaded her rounds into the pistol. "Can't have you interfering with my plans, and I can't exactly kill you either, sadly. The boss wouldn't have it.. He said nothing about half-dead." She pointed the gun down in my view. "I'll be sure to kill my little niece with no sweat. Nighty-Night." Her foot had came down onto my face with force, causing me to black out.
