"Ow, Maka! What was that all about?" Soul groaned, rubbing his newly-dented head. Maka had chopped him for sleeping in. Too bad he didn't know what his reward. "Makaaaaaaaa… CHOP!" That's right, big chop.

"Get. Up. Now. We're going to be late for class." With those ten words, Maka huffed and stormed off angrily. Soul turned around and growled at her. "Not cool."

12:00

Maka and Soul were browsing through the list of current missions, along with Black Star and Tsubaki. Apparently, there was a new mission up on the board, something about someone in Japan. What was her last name…Higurashi? Something like that. "Hey everyone, here it is! Yahoo!" Maka turned towards the source of the loud yelling to see Black Star grinning, waving the piece of paper in the air. "What does it say?" asked a curious Maka. "Look!" Black Star said. Soul and Maka eagerly peered at the small piece of paper.

"Go to Tokyo, Japan, to find a family living in a shrine with a dry well, called the Bone-Eater's Well," Maka read. "Looks like a two star mission, and seeing as how you guys are two star meisters, we can get going. Receptionist's over there." Soul said, pointing at the large sign that, sure enough, read "RECEPTIONIST"

"Hey Black Star, Tsubaki, do you also want to come along?" Said blue haired ninja looked surprised, green eyes wide with surprise. "Huh? You want me to go along to?" He straightened up. "Alright! I'm the guy who's going to surpass Shinigami, anyway! Let's go, Tsubaki!" he exclaimed, running off and leaving everyone in the dust. "Right!" Said girl responded, following after him.

"Well? What are we waiting for? Let's get going. We haven't got all day." Soul called out after Maka, blood red eyes watching her.

"Got it." The scythemeister firmly replied. Whoever was out there and waiting for them, they better watch out.

Because Maka was one of the most powerful meisters in DWMA. Because her partner was a Death Scythe. Because when it came to the "soul", she never lost.
