A/N - This is a companion/sequel to 'As We Say Goodbye' and is set before the Bad Wolf Bay scene of Journey's End. This is also slightly angsty and draws on the situation of it's companion story to give another reason why the Doctor sent Rose and 10.5 back to Pete's World, rather than keeping them with him.

Ten/Rose shipping and a tiny mention of death.

After all the planets had been returned and the celebrations were over, the Doctor and Rose finally had a moment of quiet together.

"You were pregnant," he stated suddenly. Rose smiled back at him.

"I was," she replied.

"You didn't bring the baby?" he questioned. Rose's smiled slipped.

"I didn't have a baby," she admitted, and at his look she continued, "I miscarried at five months."

"I'm sorry..." the Doctor offered softly.

"The doctors said she was deformed, that she wouldn't have lived. But she wasn't, she was so beautiful," Rose recounted; her smile returning, however wistfully, as she looked at him, "We're just too different, you and I."

The Doctor gathered her into a hug, holding her close as he saw his half human double over her shoulder and realised exactly what he had to do.

I am so sorry.

Forgive me...
