Hi, me again! I've had this idea in my head for a while, and decided maybe it would be cool to actually write it down. To anyone who read Link's Modern Adventure, I promise I will update it eventually, I just don't know when. I'm sorry, but I've gotten to the point where it's not even fun to write. It's more like a chore. I'M A CHORE WHORE!! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Anyway, without further ado, I give you the prologue to Heroes of Time.

Prologue

Lightning struck overhead Hyrule Field as a young woman, no more than twenty years of age, raced through the rain upon a black stallion. She had two infant children clutched to her chest, with her other hand on the reins. A long, deep gash was across her stomach. The remains of Castle Town burned behind her. The woman pressed on, towards the forbidden land known as Kokiri Forest. Another bolt of lightning, followed by a loud thunderclap, caused one of the infants to cry.

"Shh…you're okay. You'll be alright," she cooed, attempting to call it down. "We're almost there, just hang on sweetie." The other child was still sleeping peacefully. The woman whispered something in a strange language into the horse's ear. It sped up considerably. A short time later, the entrance to the forbidden Kokiri Forest came into view. After the woman whispered a few more words, the stallion stopped next to the dark tunnel. The young woman dismounted, still clutching her children to her chest. She paused to turn back to the horse, and rubbed its snout lovingly.

"Good boy, Shadow. Go back to Lon Lon Ranch. Talon will take care of you. I'll see you again, old friend," she whispered, and proceeded to walk towards the tunnel. The stallion gave one last adoring neigh, before turning around and galloping to the ranch.

The woman cautiously stepped through the tunnel, and thankfully, both children were sleeping peacefully. The painful journey had caused her wound to open further, and she could feel herself fading. Still, she staggered on, desperate to save her children's lives. It wasn't long before she came upon a large clearing, with an equally large tree in the middle. She knew this was the legendary Great Deku Tree, guardian of the forest. The woman also knew he was extremely protective of his forest, and could possibly kill her. But she thought maybe he would have mercy on her children. She collapsed in front of the tree.

"What business dost thou have here?!" he roared. "This is not thine place, Hylian."

"Please…" she pleaded, growing ever weaker. "Save my children…they're just babies…please…" The Great Deku Tree's expression changed from angry to merciful. The woman noticed this change, and seized the chance. "Please…I don't have much longer…I have to know they're safe…"

"I suppose I cannot deny the dying wishes of anyone. What is thy name, child?"

"A-Amara…"

"I see. And thine children, Amara?"

"The boy i-is Link…a-and the girl is…Lyra…"

"Do not worry, young Amara. Thine children shall be safe in my forest. Thy shall rest in everlasting peace. Be at peace, child."

And with the Great Deku Tree's final words to the mother, she faded away, gazing at her children, with a faint smile upon her lips.

Okay, I know the prologue is kinda short, but the next chapter will be longer. And I tried to pull of Deku Tree's old ass language, but I don't know it if worked too well. Oh well, I tried. PLEASE REVIEW! I feed on them…
