This story takes place some 20 years in the future. Sometime in the past 20 years Buffy and Dawn died while closing the Hellmouth, and the Scoobies moved away and went on with their own adult lives (they are in their 40's now). All of the demons and vampires, including Spike, left Sunnydale since the mystical draw of the Hellmouth was no more. Now Sunnydale is a peaceful place to live, a nice place to raise a family, with beautiful southern California weather, stable property values, and a wonderful school system.

And this will remain true for only a few more minutes.

The shocking news report blared from all of the televisions in the display window of the electronics shop, family owned and operated for the last 15 years in the location of the old Magic Box, some sort of New Age place that people no longer remembered. The reporter stood in front of the construction site where the land was being excavated to build the basement of the newest elementary school. He was wearing a really bad toupee, but the words he spoke were even more shocking.

"Can you believe it?" one man muttered as he watched the scene unfolding on the multiple screens.

"Cool!" one boy exclaimed. "Nothing neat ever happens in Sunnydale, and now we have aliens!"

The boy's mother hushed him so she could hear what the newscaster was saying.

* "And for those of you just joining us, I am at the site of the New Dawn Elementary School, originally scheduled to be ready for occupancy in 2023. This looks likely to change, though, as some sort of mass grave was found while the site was being excavated. A construction worker found a bone early this morning and, thinking it was human, construction was halted and a forensics team was brought in. It quickly became apparent, however, that the bones are not human, I repeat, not human. This area has now been quarantined, and officials are arriving by helicopter." *

The reporter didn't have any more information at that time, so the children escaped the clutches of their parents and raced down to get as close as possible to the off-limits site. Some of the adults went back to their jobs, unconcerned about what was probably some long ago scandal involving the zoo or a traveling circus disposing of their dead elephants and giraffes. A few people, though - the ones that had grown up in Sunnydale and still had the occasional nightmare of classmates and teachers dying under unusual circumstances, of the Mayor turning into a giant demon snake and their high school exploding, of things that really did go bump in the night - these people stayed glued to the televisions and hoped that these weren't the signs of bad things coming again.

If anyone likes this story, review it and I'll add some more. It was really just an idea I'd never read about before - what will happen in the future when the remains of all the demon bodies Buffy gets rid of are found?
