James drew up alongside his friend Percy. He had just come back after getting new coat of paint and now he had something else to do.

"Percy," he began

Percy looked and saw his friend at one side of him. "Hello James!" He responded in surprise.

"I have an apology for you Percy-I'm sorry for before. No matter our size or colour we are special, and those two factors should never judge our true value."

Percy just looked confused.

"Pardon, James?" he asked.

"Well, we are different because we are different I'm a mixed traffic engine, so I can pull trucks and coaches. But for you, you can do things that tender engines can't you can go backwards as well as forwards without breaking the rules. That's a good thing to have on an ever -growing railway, especially since more diesels are coming in." He elucidated.

"I understand that." Percy responded. "It's good to be different."

"Correct." James flashed a confident relieved smile that wiped away apprehension that the pair had had previously.

"How about a trip to the canal? We both like it up there." James offered, nervously.

"I know you do!" teased Percy. "Alright James, I'll come."

And so with the slate wiped clean and their friendship in good standards once more, the two engines set off for the canal, each secure with their differences and that no matter what, they will be accepted for their differences on, as James said, an ever-growing railway.
