Marlene,
I know what you think I've done is unforgivable. I don't know how to explain it to you. I just know this is what I need to do. Understand or don't. It doesn't matter anymore. I'm looking at him now. He's lost in thought. You couldn't imagine anything more beautiful. Don't try to find us, it's useless.
-P.
Marlene reread the letter. She walked toward the kitchen, fidgeting with the note. She read it again. She reread it for a third time. There was a sudden, incredible knot in her chest, a heavy choking thing making the room go out of focus. She slumped down in the chair nearest to the kitchen island. Bright lemon-colored sun flooded the small, messy apartment making every stain and dust bunny even more noticeable. It was Tuesday.
"Jesus." Marlene muttered. She tried reading the letter again but the paper was shaking and she couldn't read the words. She then realized it was her hands that were shaking and she let the letter drop.
"Pamela, no. God no. Please." She rasped. Marlene could taste copper in her mouth. Blood? No, not blood. Adrenaline. Gripping her head in her hands, she thought about the last few days. Today was Tuesday. That meant that it had been only four days since they met him. Four days and everything had changed. 96 hours and Marlene had lost her sister completely. I'm getting you back Marlene thought to herself. She picked up the letter and read it again. 'Don't try to find us. It's useless.'
"I'm getting you back, P." Marlene crumpled the letter in her fists, her knuckles turning white. "Loki can't have you."
