A short one-shot on Pai's feelings toward Lettuce. Enjoy! Oh, and don't worry, Cure For My Love is coming soon, I promise.
Troubled Waters
It was merely a fascination to a scientist on how she worked. She held back often in fights and there was a pang of guilt in her eyes before she let her attack wash away and erode the Chimera's defense.
She was the most strange and less of a pest than the others. Her costume made practically instead of fashionable and 'cute'. Much like Pai himself. The practicality, not the cute.
It seemed to never get in the way of her running. Would not catch when fighting. The boots not high enough to restrict movement in her knees. He was just fascinated by her.
Pai wanted to know everything about her. For scientific reasons of course. Everything he did was for science. Kish and Tart seemed to have a social life outside of the project while Pai devoted his life to saving his people. It was always put first and it always would come first.
No matter what he thought of the porpoise, he would not let it interfere. Besides, she was not his experiment. Pai saw the kindness she saved for his blond rival. Of course, she was always sweet to everyone, even her enemy, but this was different.
Being able to conceal them so well, Pai had become a master of the emotions. He was able to read the shyness and joy in her face when the blond was around, the disappointment when he discarded her to yell at the redhead or have eye-conversations with the wolf.
He could not explain what he felt. The hate for him. How he could be so blind to a gentle, fragile yet strong-willed woman who went out of her way to gain his affections. The smartest, most beautiful girl who never got enough attention because of her shyness.
Pai cut off his thoughts. No, they were purely frustrations in how a fellow person of such intellect was being treated.
But now, he was a little unsure. The scientist had the highest IQ on Earth and in the top 3 on his planet. He could work out the radius of the sun and the distance it was from Earth in his head. Even the first 100 numbers of Pi was easy to recite from memory. Yet Pai could not work out how he felt toward his enemy.
He should hate her. But he did not. She was meek and self-conscious which meant she was all too easy to take out. Instead, he held back. Their fighting was more of a dance. Attack, dodge, counter, block. Albeit, a less graceful dance but a dance nonetheless.
She was just a fascination in the beginning. Still was, Pai told himself, allowing his mind to wander to that of his Mew. Little did he know of the smile that grazed his lips and he was lying to himself. But Pai was a good liar.
So was it realistic? I'm hoping to get better at my writing skills. Sorry it's short! Please R&R! Byeeeeeee :)
