A small orange kitten rushed across the rooftops of the skyscrapers, using planks of wood as trampolines to get across. It was avoiding being caught by a two men in a helicopter, which captured stray animals and sold for money. It seemed like its escape would never be gifted to it. As the metal beast flew over its head as she ducked for cover, she noticed how it didn't even shine in the moonlight. She continued her escape from the two evil men. She sprinted to the next building, or so she thought. Before she could stop, she fell into a small house, in the shape of a hedgehog's head, crashing through the window. She landed on a table, surrounded by darkness. She looked around, but she was so used to the bustling streetlights on the roads below her all the time that she just couldn't see anything. She wandered aimlessly through the darkness, before she hit something. A lantern in the shape of a skull with its mouth open. It ominously brightened the room, revealing an old book, with cryptic writing in it. She stared at the mysterious writing, and saw two words glowing bright crimson.
"Morphias Mismagus."
She stared at the words. It mystified her as much as it amazed her. Although she clearly couldn't speak, she tried to say the word. With every try it sounded more and more clearly. When she said it clear as crystal, something bizarre happened.
She started to grow. Her tail shrank away and her front legs became arms with cat paw gloves on them. Her fur vanished leaving some of it on her head dangling down, and her skin started to feel like it was made of rubber every time she touched it. Her gloves fell away to reveal human hands and clothes materialized on her body. With her new, bigger form, she couldn't keep her balance on the table and fell off.
"Ugh, what a headache…" she said, before she sat up in amazement. "Wait, I can talk?"
"What's going on in there?" said a male voice. The catgirl watched helplessly as a purple hedgehog opened the door, with a red hedgehog coming into the room as well.
"I'm sorry, I just was a normal kitten a moment ago and now I'm like this…" the catgirl said, trembling with fear, before the red hedgehog walked over to her and helped her up.
"Name's Kam." the red hedgehog said, before he noticed that the catgirl's arm extended as he held it to help her up onto her new feet, clothed by boots with the toes poking through. "Looks like something happened with one of your spells, Psy."
"Yes, Kam. It feels that way." the purple hedgehog replied. "Catgirl, my name is Psy the hedgehog."
"Hi…" the catgirl said nervously.
"Don't you have a name?" asked Kam.
"Uh, no I don't." the catgirl replied.
"Hang on, Kam; she said that she was a normal kitten a moment ago…" Psy said. "That must mean she tried to read one of the spells in my book and this gave her a permanent transformation, turning her into a catgirl."
"A rubber one, I guess…" the catgirl said, as she stretched her arms to find that they grew in length.
"That's all well and good, Psy." Kam replied. She can live with us back in the Animal Realms. Whaddaya say, Morphia?" He held out his hand to the catgirl. She hesitated a little bit, with the cat behaviour still in her, but as it soon vanished, she gained confidence and shook hands with Kam.
"Name's Morphia." She said, feeling very happy about her new life as a superhero.
