-January 2015-

It had been a long day at Archbishop Carroll. She'd had a bit of a tough time explaining biochemistry to the students, and she knew it would take time for the students to fully grasp it. However, no sooner had she reached home what she saw in the living room, made her feel all her worries and stress melt away.

In front of her she saw her and Russ' eighteen month old daughter Jocelyn Josephson 'JJ', looking innocent, sucking on her pacifier whilst asleep on her daddy. She was a perfect combination of her and Russ as she had inherited Stella's olive skin tone and Russ' eyes. The poor thing had woken up sick, Stella wanted to stay home but she had to give her class a quiz on their current subject. Russ immediately volunteered to stay, since he had no open cases going on and he knew that his boss would ask him to take a few days off sooner or later.

Russ himself was fast asleep on the couch with his hand on Jocelyn's back to prevent her from falling. Russ who usually displayed toughness on the outside was now reduced to cuteness. Stella knew this would happen from the first moment they saw Jocelyn after she was born.

-July 2013-

It had been ten hours since Stella gave birth to Jocelyn Sofia Josephson (or JJ as her Uncle Donnie was quick to nickname her) in the back of Russ' government issued and unmarked fuel efficient mid-sized Ford SUV. When Stella awoke she looked in the direction of the whisper and saw Russ whispering to their newborn JJ as she was now sound asleep in her daddy's arms.

Stella knew Russ was usually the epitome of toughness and manliness, but now that their princess had him wrapped around her tiny fingers and reduced to a puddle of mush.

She couldn't help but smile when she heard a part of the conversation, "...if you bring a guy for us to meet you should know that your momma and I, as well as your brother Tyler, will heavily interrogate him because we want to be able to protect you for as long as we can."

Stella spoke up and got Russ' attention, "You know Russ, I don't think she will be able to grasp the concept anytime soon."

Russ turned and looked at his beautiful wife, smiled, shrugged and in a serious tone he said, "It's never too early to start now."

Stella was thinking about the day after their daughter was born but when Russ caught her eye she smiled and after putting her things away she quietly went over and gently moved Russ' hand and picked up little Jocelyn. She squirmed and whimpered a little and Stella held her close, gently rubbing her back. The toddler sensed her mother's touch and calmed down and cuddled closer, falling asleep again.

Soon Stella had the little girl in her PJs and in bed. After tucking her in and kissing her good night, she crept out of her daughter's girly room and went back to the living room. She sat down and snuggled into Russ's side and enjoyed a peaceful moment together where words were not needed to convey that they had many great gifts but the best of all was their daughter, Jocelyn.
