Valinor
Two sable haired warriors walked side by side through a snow-covered forest. The bright sunshine shone off the pristine snow beautifully. It shimmered in small niches between branches and in the laps of skinny young trees. The dark smooth bark of the wood provided a stark contrast with the light around them. A clear blue sky encompassed the space above them. Elladan and Elrohir were two silhouettes meandering in synchronicity upon a narrow barely trod path.
The two brothers had decided to become lost within the woodland as a way to pass the time before the feast. Today was a day of remembrance and a great meal would be taken in the evening… one hour before the sunset. Presently, the sun was riding high in the sky; it was about an hour and half after lunch.
Brother and brother had been silent for some time in their marching. A heavy feeling of nostalgia tugged at their hearts as memories of times long past surfaced and disappeared just as quickly as their puffing breaths in the icy air. The twins ambled for some time remembering back years ago, no it had been millennia since the two had dwelt upon Middle-Earth. Their long stretching memories danced back to the mortal realm…
On this day, an age away, they had been dressing for a wedding. It had been a grand wedding. A king and queen had been the couple blessed on that day. Still, it had also been a sad day. Elrohir would say it had been a tragic day in his darkest moments, that morning he and his brother had lost a sister and gained a brother. He still marvelled on the complexities of the pair. He had always viewed Aragorn as his brother even before that. The younger twin drew his thoughts away from pondering too deeply. Elrohir could sense his brother feeding off his emotions, going into a downward spiral of grief.
He silently chastised himself for even being so sorrowful on this day. He knew his father would not approve. A question formed in his mind. Why had they even decided to go out on this walk in the first place?
I suppose we are thinking, Elrohir thought. It was a good day to ponder the old ways and the new beginnings. They were older now and it was a good as time as any to think about these things. What a better occasion to consider all that had happened so far and what may come ahead? Maybe it isn't the best day to think Nothing ever happens here anyways. His doubts came back to hound him. They would get him nowhere.
With these feelings in mind, Elrohir finally broke the still quiet by clearing his throat.
Elladan looked up from watching his feet tread on and met his brother's silver eyes.
The younger twin gave Elladan a gentle smile. "What are you thinking?" He asked.
Elladan thought for a moment deliberating with himself over whether or not he should tell his brother the truth about what was going through his head. He decided against it for the same reasons Elrohir had determined. "I want to go hunting," he stated, liking the idea the more he thought about it.
Elrohir snorted. That was actually a very good idea. "Sounds fun…" He gave his brother a mischievous look. It was the same one he had been giving Elladan for aeons. "We have till sundown," he offered.
Elladan smirked. "I don't think adar will mind."
"Yeah as long as we are cleaned up by the feast," Elrohir said, putting his own justification into the dialogue.
The elder twin broke, flashing a grin. "What are we waiting for?"
