Part 1 - Anticipation
Helpless to the situation, she felt alone. Alone, and cold, trapped by the sudden fear of losing another friend, losing someone she had slowly grown to care deeply about. Her mind was reeling, desperately searching for a way to intervene. But the two young men that stood before her were locked in each others gazes, hatred radiating out of their eyes as they glared.
She gathered up the courage, took a deep breath and started to run forward.
"Naruto!"
The blonde haired boy turned his head, and Sakura stopped and gazed in horror. His eyes were dark red, darker then the Sharingan had ever been. Two white fangs protruded out of his mouth and his face was twisted with rage. Sakura gathered herself again, and stood behind Naruto.
"We do this together, Naruto."
His body was trembling violently, and a low growl escaped his lips, as he focused his attention back at opponent before him. The dark haired Sasuke, looking more dangerous then ever. Sword unsheathed, he had never taken his eyes of Naruto. A smile emerged on his face.
"You're late again, Naruto."
Naruto clenched his fists tight, and the red chakra began swirling and covering his body completely. The ground underneath him cracked and gave away.
Tears welling in her eyes, Sakura tried placing a hand on Narutos shoulder, only to pull away quickly, burned under the heat of the chakra.
"Naruto…" She whispered.
She again placed her hand on his shoulder, this time however, enduring the pain and keeping it there. "Naruto. Please, calm down."
Naruto glanced back at Sakura, then at Sasuke. "Do not stop me this time, Sakura."
And with that, he leapt forward, the ground beneath him caving under the weight of his chakra. He pulled his arm back, and swung it directly at Sasuke, all the while with him grinning. "Too slow, Naruto."
The dull side of his blade smacked against the side of Narutos skull, forcing his body to fly in another direction, and skid across the earth. Sasuke grinned, this time looking at Sakura.
"Think you could handle watching your comrade die?"
Sasuke ducked, after the last word was said, and avoided Narutos kick, which flew past above his head. Sasuke turned quickly, sheathed his sword and aimed a punch at Narutos open chest. With surprising speed, Naruto spun his body in midair, and grasped Sasukes arm and pulled him into his fist. He hit the target, and Sasuke was sent crashing back, blood exiting the cut in his lip. He regained his footing and charged head on with Naruto, bashing his skull into his, and Naruto was flung back, spiralling into the air before slamming into the ground, unmoving.
"Naruto!"
Sasuke made, and completed the hand seals within seconds. "Katon! Gokakyu No Jutsu!" With a deep breath, a large fireball flew out of his mouth, and exploded in flames upon hitting Narutos body.
