Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognize…
A/N: This is for everylastline who asked for McKono at one of Gracie's baseball game. I also want to warn you that I know shit about baseball, its rules and anything really. I think it's a painfully boring sport. I'm more of a soccer or MMA kind of girl. Whatever…
No beta was harmed…same old, same old.
Tell me what you think!
"Shit," Steve grunts and his grip on Kono's right knee tightens almost painfully so.
Kono frowns as she glances at her husband's fingers, swearing that she'll make Danny pay in blood and tears if Steve crushes her good knee. Because of course it's Danny's fault that she has to sit there with a sulking and occasionally muttering Steve beside her. And yeah, okay, maybe it's Steve's too because he didn't really need to punch the other team's coach two games ago. After a few rounds of shouting and not so PG rated name calling the guy left with a bloody nose and a promise of lawsuit and Danny banished Steve from the field.
"This is bad, I think they need to…" Steve mumbles, already in motion to raise out of his seat and it's only for Kono's quick reflexes that she can pull him back by the back of his red and white jersey.
"Don't you dare," Kono hisses in his ear, trying to avoid causing another scene. It's a fucking miracle that they are still allowed to attend Gracie's games.
"But…" Steve looks at her, confused and hurt, like it's Kono's fault that he can't manage a single game without any trouble.
"Sit." Kono commands, her hand loosening it's grip on his jersey and subtly slides under it, to caress warm skin instead, partly for distraction and partly for her own pleasure.
Steve grumbles something under his breath but turns his attention back to the game without any further fuss and Kono lets out a relieved sigh.
She scoots a little closer, pressing their thighs together as she rests her head on Steve's shoulder. She doesn't really pay attention to the game, she's not very fond of baseball and it's not Gracie's turn anyway so she closes her eyes and enjoys this semi-quiet, stolen moment with her husband. Steve's hand on her knee moves, unconscious, his thumb rubbing little circles on the inside of her thigh absentmindedly.
It seems like that she managed to doze off a little because when she opens her eyes next the game is already over and Steve is calling her name softly, his fingers brushing through her hair gently.
"Hey," his tone concerned as he looks at her face searchingly. "You okay?"
"Yeah," she smiles, nuzzling into his palm when he cradles her cheek. "A little tired."
"You sure?" Steve doesn't look convinced; his infamous laser focus is now strictly on her, the game behind him and the sting of being benched suddenly forgotten.
Kono's eyes go soft and a little watery because sometimes she still can't believe that this incredible man is hers to keep. Forever. She takes a deep breath, she didn't want to do this here but somehow now she can't think of a better place.
"Yes," she nods while her heart picks up a crazy speed as she takes his hand and presses it against her stomach. "It's just a little exhausting, carrying the first member of your own little league team."
Steve's mouth opens then closes then opens again and Kono has to laugh a little because there's not enough opportunity to see her big bad Navy SEAL of a husband speechless.
"Really?" Steve whispers hoarsely, his eyes clouded and she can feel the fine tremors in his hand against her stomach.
"Yeah, really," she nods and pulls him down for a kiss because it seems that she managed to temporally break her man.
Steve kisses her back, cradling her close, saying her name in a tone she'd never heard before which makes her kiss him even harder.
"Um, I'm not sure if you two are aware that we lost." Danny's voice drawls disdainfully behind them. "And if this is how you cope with that I really don't want to witness what you do after a win."
