Harry's eyes fluttered open as James, his new-born son, stirred, and began to wail. He slid out of bed and retrieved his baby from the cot.

"Shh, little James, shh, I'm going to get your bottle in a second." He rocked his son, and pulled him close to his chest, listening to the crying eventually come to a close. Harry watched James intently and smiled playfully at him, laughing as James giggled and gurgled in return. He headed downstairs and began to feed him, sitting on the large sofa, stroking James' thin, wispy hair, both of their eyelids closing heavily, and they fell into a deep sleep.

Three hours later, Ginny opened her eyes slowly. She expected to find her husband watching her awaken, as he usually did, but instead the bed was empty, and James was gone from his cot. She realised soon that they must be downstairs, getting breakfast. Swinging her legs out of bed, she rubbed her eyes and left the room. She padded across the carpet, and crept silently downstairs, she didn't want to disturb them, she loved watching them bond. Entering the kitchen, she found it empty, no sign of any life, not even a dirty plate or mug. Frowning, confusedly, she left the kitchen and followed the hall to the living room. The door was open a crack, and as she peered in, Harry lay on the couch, James on top of his chest, both sleeping soundly. Harry held James close to him, tightly keeping him from rolling off of his chest. Ginny smiled softly, Harry had exceeded her expectation of his fathering skills by far, and it came to him so naturally. She entered the room and sat down beside the large couch, taking one of Harry's hands and one of James' little fingers, stroking them both softly. It didn't take long for her to realise that she was holding her whole world in her own hands at that moment, and a tear sprung to her eye at the thought of having them with her for the rest of her life.

"I love you," she whispered softly to both of them. James gurgled softly in response to her voice, and Harry mumbled back, still asleep.

"I love you, too." His words could hardly be made out but she understood them. She kissed both, softly on their foreheads, and thanked her lucky stars for the life she led, and the people she lived for.
