The DK Curse, its origin is unknown to most who come across it. How did this character become a curse to players? It all stems back to the Donkey Kong Country cartoon that aired in 1997 and finished in 2000. Somehow, this show (if you can call it that) miraculously lasted three years with two seasons and forty episodes. Nowadays, it's a meme and people make fun of its horrendous animation and plot. Did their doing anger the demons that rest inside the cartoon? Maybe, maybe not. But whenever the cartoon is mentioned, something terrible happens. Friendships are ruined and players rage quit. Quite curious this happens, just like jinxing oneself. If you play as Donkey Kong, then you are likely to lose and every good thing will backfire.
Can this be transferred to real life? In theory, yes. During a normal game of Super Smash Bros Brawl, a player played as Donkey Kong and lost. She then raged and ran off. Who is "she"? We'll just call her Lisa. Lisa ran off as far as she could go, away from the game and her friends. The guy she was with chased after her. We'll call him David.
When he finally found Lisa, she was found unconscious on the sidewalk. What happened? She slipped on a banana peel! David looked around the corner to find a trail of them, leading to a normal monkey.
"How did you get here, little fella?" he asked, as he knelt down to it.
The monkey looked his way, with red glowing eyes bleeding from the sockets. Its teeth were razor sharp, ready to attack. "yOu INsuLtEd tHe SAcrEd TReaSUre!" it spoke. This left David speechless. "NoW yOu wILL pAy wITh yOuR liFE!" The tiny monkey's mouth opened wider than it should and devoured David in one bite, leaving no trace behind. Even the banana peels disappeared.
This is the unfortunate fate that occurs when people insult the Donkey Kong Country cartoon and dare to play as him. It's an insult!
Lisa heads home since David is nowhere to be found. In fact, she doesn't even know of him anymore. All memory of the man, David is erased from everyone who knew him. Meanwhile, two other girls (Rachel and Lynn) that await for David and Lisa's return are left confused and concerned. When Lynn receives a text message from Lisa, she heads home.
This is one of the many incidents that occurred involving the DK Curse. Some are left haunted by what their once innocent eyes saw. One time, a man was singing about coconut cream pie and was hit by a pie truck. This man also hated the cartoon. Never curse the supernatural, no matter how ridiculous it may seem. If you do, you may be at risk of meeting a terrible fate.
