Puck looked into Quinn's innocent brown eyes. His gaze lowered to the baby he held carefully in his arms, and he sighed. He didn't want to say it, but secretly he'd been wanting to keep the baby all along. Beth was so beautiful, so delicate... a bit like the girl he'd fallen for. But he couldn't put Quinn through it, she'd been through enough, and so he placed Beth back in her hospital crib, next to the big sign saying 'Up for adoption'. Puck couldn't believe he was doing this. He was the big hard man of the school; nothing got in his way, but still the tears poured down his face.

The emotions he felt for Quinn, he couldn't describe. Perhaps words couldn't describe it, or perhaps Puck didn't have the vocabulary. Either way, he knew he had to do something about it. It was the least she deserved, after the 9 months of hell he'd put her through. He crossed the hallway to the private room that she still remained in. 'I have to tell her.' he thought. Puck walked adamantly into the room, and open his mouth to speak, but before he had a chance, he noticed Quinn lying on the bed. Her hands were curled up by her face; her hair splayed across the pillow. The desperation in Puck's eyes was incredible. He wanted her. He needed her.

The rest of New Directions had been waiting patiently outside. Finn was concerned for Puck and Quinn, but this didn't stop the uncontrollable smile that came across his face. He had been at the hospital for an hour, but already he missed Rachel. Mercedes had come out of the ward about 15 minutes ago, as she felt that Quinn and Puck had needed to be alone after the birth of baby Beth. Tina and Artie were flicking through hospital magazines, and they too were grinning from the aftermath of their regionals performance. Santana was busy answering Brittany's everlasting questions, as she felt it necessary to tell her best friend that no, babies were not delivered by storks. That was when Puck came through.

Everyone rose solemnly, as if they were attending some sort of funeral service. Puck attempted a smile, but Mr Schuester soon saw what was really going on. He grabbed Puck at the shoulders and they embraced in a 'manly' hug. Mr Schuester felt a tear drop onto his shoulder, and he whispered into his student's ear, 'It's gonna be okay, Puck. Trust me, I've lost a baby too, I know what it's like. Everything's going to be fine.' And for once in his life, Puck did trust Mr Schuester, and his fellow Glee clubbers. He let go, smiled, and left.

And just as he was on his way out, he met Quinn in the hallway. She looked washed out, but still she smiled. "I love you." Puck said.

"I know." Quinn replied, as she squeezed him tight.
