Just a short one shot I thought of.
You Broke Her
Rory walked into her house after going to see Lane. She walked in the door and saw her mum sitting on the couch. As she got closer she noticed she was crying. She just sat down next to her mum and put a comforting arm around her. She let her mum cry for a few more minutes before she broke the silence.
"What happened?"
"We needed ice so I went to the supermarket just out of town."
"Why didn't you just go to Doose's?"
"I didn't want to run into Luke. Well it didn't work. He was there at the supermarket. We started talking and he said all this stuff." Rory notices that the tears that her mum had just finished shedding were coming back and worse than before. She didn't like seeing her mum like this but she need to vent.
"What stuff did he say?"
"He said that we should just go on with our lives. We should just go back to the way we were. I should go back to being Lorelai Gilmore and he will go back to being that guy that pours my coffee." The tears her mum had been holding her just came pouring out. Rory held onto her mum until she heard her voice.
"I am just going to go upstairs to bed. I'll see you in the morning."
Rory watch her mum go up the stairs. The only other time she had seen her mum like this was when Luke and her mum broke up the first time.
Rory knew what she had to do. It may not help her mum's situation but she had something to say so she was going to say it. She got up of the couch and walked out the door. She ran the entire way until she saw her destination; Luke's
She looked up and saw the light on in the apartment above the diner so she walked in through the hole in the wall, up the stair and knocked on the door. After a few seconds the door opened and there stood the man that broke her mother's heart.
"How could you do that? Say all those things. I come home to find her sitting on the couch crying. She has spent the last few days trying to stay strong, trying to move on but you say a few words to her and her whole world come crashing down."
"She told you what I said at the supermarket."
"Yes she did. How could you. To mum you were always more than just the guy who poured her coffee. You were a friend that she could talk to when things got rough. A friend that she could just muck around with."
The look on Luke's face told he that he knew this but he spoke any way.
"Rory you mother and I were trying to make something work that never could. We are too different. She belongs with some one like Christopher. Not me."
"You're an idiot if you think that." Rory looked down at her shoes knowing that her mum would want her to tell Luke the next thing that was coming out of her mouth but she knew she had to.
"You broke her and you are the only one who can mend her."
With that Rory turned around and walked back down the stairs, out the huge hole and back to her house. She didn't want and answer from Luke she just wanted him to know.
How do you like it? I know it is short but I just it was all Rory would say.
