Prologue: Those Days
The statue had stood there for many years; its foundation not even beginning to crumble. It was made out of a dark bronze and it looked like it had already started to rust. It's image was that of eight people standing next to each other, wand in hand, looking read to fight. They looked strong and sturdy and it looked like nothing could get in their way.
A man stood in front of this statue, hands in his pocket. He looked quite skinny for his age and he wore light brown clothes that looked ripped and torn from many years of use. His light brown hair was curly and a big scraggly; you would have mistaken him for a homeless man if you were a Muggle walking the streets. His body was marked with scars and if you looked closely, you would have noticed some fresh wounds running down his arms. He was Romulus Dagman; a very strong fighter and a great wizard.
He was staring at the inscription that marked the base of the statue: To the 12th Division! A wisp of a smile played on his features as he read the plaque. He had visited this place several times and there was something that kept making him go back. It was this feeling that he had that couldn't get rid of itself. He sighed to himself for a moment before reading the quote that lay beneath the first line: "We may separate and go down different paths now, but in truth it will always lead to the same road in the end, because no matter what we're still family. We will never truly leave each other."
Romulus Dagman had always remembered when one of his best friends, Jason Rykers had said this to him. It seemed so long ago now that he thought about it. This was when they had been about to join the war and depart from Hogwarts. They had all decided to go down different roads when Jason had pulled them aside and said this to them. It had truly touched Romulus that Jason had said this. Romulus knew Jason wasn't the sentimental type and the fact that he had taken time to do that meant more than his best friend could ever know.
He nodded to himself once more before deciding that it was time to depart. He had spent to long standing in the graveyard that would long be forgotten after he left. It seemed too lonely and desolate. Snow marked the ground and after having inch after inch of snow for the past couple of days, most of the gravestones had been covered from head to toe. Romulus had taken the time to clear away all this from the statue so it looked just like it had been a week before.
He smiled softly to himself as he Apparated once more. He still could remember the days when they were all laughing and having fun at Hogwarts; when they didn't have any great burdens or worries. It was those days that he cherished the most. It was those days he would always remember.
