DISCLAIMER: Just so you know, I didn't really like either of these characters, but I loved writing this for them. If I had owned them, I may have liked them more – but maybe not – who knows? As I don't own them, we'll never know, huh?
She looked over at him, all concentration and thought. Most people would not find him appealing, that much was true, but she wasn't most people. So, in truth, she fancied him quite a lot. More than that, actually – if she were being honest with herself. Not that she was being honest with herself these days. But that was neither here nor there. Tonight she was going out with this wonderful man – their first real date! Before it was all going back to his place – or hers – for a little fumble and tumble. But, this time, he had agreed to do it right. A night at the cinema after a meal at one of the better restaurants in the city – she had hacked onto their reservation system to get that. Her stomach had butterflies, just looking at him.
He looked up for a moment and nodded, a smile on his lips. Damn, but she though he looked exceedingly sexy with those safety glasses on. Why was that? On anyone else, including the boss, they would have made her laugh. But here was Owen – usually classified as all-around git – looking very adorable in a pair.
"Hey down there!" She called, forgetting that she had work to do.
"Hey up there!" He called back laughing. "Anything new?"
"No, this piece of Tech has me stumped. Any lead down there?" She was leaning over the railing, giving the doctor a good glimpse of her chest.
"Not the first. What time is it?" He pushed the glasses back on his head and wiped his forehead with the back of his hand.
So adorable! "Uhhh…it looks like it's coming up on five."
"Gah! Don't we have reservations at seven?" He was tearing at the paper gown he wore to protect his clothes.
"Yeah, we do!" She was surprised that he had remembered – it was if he really wanted to do this, not blow her off like usual.
"Shit! Listen, how soon can you be ready?" He was wrapping up the remains on the table now.
"I'm already ready – you?" She swung her leg through the bars, dangling her shoe.
"Let me pop down to the showers and change – I'll be ready in a shake!" He was up the stairs and headed toward the showers, but not before stopping to lean in to talk to her. "We're gonna do this right, Suzie, if we have to turn the comms off to get any peace…"
She blushed as he kissed her on the cheek. Toshiko, who was sitting at her station, could not help but notice. She quickly turned away as the women's eyes met.
Suzie suddenly felt bad for her co-worker. She wished that the other woman had someone like Owen for her own. Someone safe, someone to talk about things to. Maybe tomorrow she would invite Tosh over to her house this weekend for a girl's movie night. That would be fun. But now, all she could think of was the night she was going to have with Dr. Owen Harper.
