Full Summary:
Lu is driving home late one Friday night when she stops at the grocery store to pick up some breakfast items for the next day for Marc. While paying for the items, a man comes into the store waving a gun and demands the money from the cash register. Once the money is handed over, he turns to Lu, demanding that she hand over her money as well. What happens when the clerk tries to take the gun from the robber? What happens when the gun goes off and the bullet hits Lu in the chest? Will the paramedics get to her in time? Will her co-workers be able to help her when she is brought into the ER? Will the robber be caught? Will Lu be okay? And how will Marc be told what happened to his mother?
Working Late, Buying Groceries:
Peter helped the last patient of the night out to her car and then came back in. Lana, Dana and Nick were laughing about a joke that Nick had just told and Lu was getting her purse and jacket. They looked at each other and then started to get their gear together. Peter spoke first.
"So, who's going home and taking a long hot shower? Or going out and getting a drink?"
"That would not be me. I have to stop by the grocery store to pick up some breakfast items. I promised Marc that I would make him some pancakes and eggs with some milk and right now were out of all three. Hey but next time we should all definitely get that drink together." Lu said.
"Hey, fine by me. I have had just about enough of this day. Though I was thinking about having a certain friend over for the night" Lana said.
"And we all know what Dana and Nick are going to be doing tonight!" Peter said.
"Hey, that is not fair. We'll see you all tomorrow morning then. Bye." Dana and Nick said together.
Peter, Lana, Lu, Dana, and Nick walked out the door and headed in their separate directions saying that they would see each other on Saturday. Peter drove Lana home while Lu got in her car and headed for the grocery store. Nick and Dana got in their cars and both drove back to their own homes. As they all drove home, they all thought about the next day at work. Tomorrow was supposed to be the kickoff of an all night Leukemia Dance Off fundraiser. A patient of Lu's was diagnosed with Leukemia and wanted to do something not only for herself but for others like her.
Lu stopped at the grocery store and grabbed her purse then went into the store, saying hi to Emilio who was behind the counter. Grabbing a basket, she headed to the breakfast isle and started grabbing what she would need for Marc. With the last thing on her list only milk, she headed for the dairy department and decided on getting some cheese as well. Once everything was in her basket, she headed for the counter to pay for the groceries. Emilio knew that Lu was a doctor and had come into the clinic a few times, leaving the store with his wife and oldest son.
Lu laughed at what Emilio had told her about his wife. Amila was a frequent visitor at the clinic for the Chat Room and was always saying how Emilio knew just what to do to make her happy. Emilio pointed to a new item that he knew Marc would like then proceeded to finish checking her out. They never knew what hit them as all of a sudden, the door flew open and…
