I don't own Ouran High School Host Club

Autumn. My favourite time of year. The trees are beautiful colours and it's the time when Mitsukuni is least in danger. The summer has swimming and exciting trips. It involves me watching him closely so I'm sure he's safe. And then the winter is full of cold conditions and ice. It's worse than summer as I have to watch him and myself as to be sure neither of us fall or catch colds.

Yes, Autumn truly is the greatest time of year. The rain has been heavy over the past few days and as we walked through the park we came across a large, deep puddle, as big as a pond. That's when Mitsukuni got a bright idea.

The rain had subsided hours ago. Mitsukuni opened it, turned it upside down and set it floating on the water. After he put Usa-chan inside he sat cross-legged on the damp grass and giggled. I often envied that rabbit. It was held close by Mitsukuni and never left his side. And often he held most of his attention.

"Isn't this cool, Takashi! Usa-chan is a sailor." He giggled not once taking his eyes off the rabbit.

"Yeah." I couldn't bring myself to say anything else as I watched Mitsukuni sit contently watched the umbrella. All my jealousy subsided and I felt warm at the fact the Mitsukuni was happy and safe.

The park was deserted and everything in sight was damp from the downpours of the week. Everyone would be sitting at home by their fires, while reading a book or having tea. Just as we would have been doing if Mitsukuni hadn't insisted we go out today. Sometimes I wondered what went through his mind, to prefer a cold walk in harsh wind to sitting at home in the warmth. Not that I minded. He just confused me sometimes, I'd thought he'd want to stay home to smell the cake as the cooks baked and eat what had already been finished. That was what we do most half terms.

It was nearing the end of the holiday, the twins and Haruhi would return from their school trip soon, Tamaki would stop sulking and Kyouya would be relieved to get a full night's rest. Soon we would be back in the club room entertaining young ladies again, using our relationships to stir up interest.

"Takashi! The umbrella's sinking! Usa-chan's going to drown!" Mitsukuni's cry broke through my thoughts and I saw the pink umbrella slowly sinking deeper into the murky water. No matter how much I envied that rabbit, it would hurt Mitsukuni too much if it was ruined. I ran through the freezing water and picked usa-chan out of the umbrella before he touched the water. The umbrella was replaceable and unimportant so I let it sink.

Mitsukuni stopped sobbing as I handed Usa-chan to him. Cold shivers ran through my legs as the violent wind whipped my soaked clothes against them.

"Thank you, Takashi." A pair of small arms were flung around my neck and warm lips were pressed against my own. My eyes were wide with shock while Mitsukuni's slowly slid closed. Putting my arms around his waist to hold him up, my lips began to move in sync with his and my own eyes closed. The rabbit, host club and rain were all forgotten as we held each other tight.

"I …love…you." Mitsukuni said in between kisses. I pulled back in shock and stared at his face. His cheeks were red and he looked cold. Quickly pecking his lips once more, I brushed his hair back and picked Usa-chan up off the floor.

"I love you too, now lets go home." I replied as Mitsukuni clung tight and I began to walk. Yes, Autumn was defiantly my favourite time of year.
