Why...? I've been betrayed... Forgotten... Replaced. Like some kind of broken toy.
But I'm not a toy.
You can't replace me... I refuse it. You'll pay. You all will.
I swear it.
...
I closed my eyes as the calm wind rustled the leaves of the swaying trees, stretching far above my head. My trusty partner, a Turtwig, traveled beside me, happily chanting a song. The sunlight extended it's vast warmth to the cute little guy, which made me smile.
As of late, my partner seemed off, his eyes shadowed with stress. He was the strongest and wisest of my team, but carried an everstone with him everywhere, refusing to evolve. I didn't understand what could bother him so; I mean we're conquered so much together.
We've saved the lake guardians, defeated the legendary beasts, and breezed through the Elite Four. During those times, he always kept his head held high and mind clear.
What could be wrong?
It's almost time... Almost time to be remembered.
I won't be replaced again... Not after this. But we'll see. For now, I have to stick to the task at hand...
It's just too bad I'll have to sacrifice to get my point across.
Not that it will matter for long.
...
I looked up at the sky, Clouds were starting to form, and the wind was turning cold. It would rain soon.
Turtwig stiffened and hopped up onto my shoulder, shivering a little. Poor little guy. He hated the cold so much... Not that I could blame him.
Don't worry... It will be over soon. Very soon.
What? Who said that?
I looked around, but saw no one. Absolutely no one was around.
You're wrong... Some one IS around. Close. Very close.
W-what? Turtwig stared ahead, his eyes unblinking.
A figure slowly stepped out from the trees. He was wearing a red jacket, jeans, and a red hat. He looked so familiar... Who was this boy?
Before I had time to remember, Turtwig fell from my shoulder, writhing in pain. He suddenly withdrew into his shell, and I saw a horrifying sight.
Blood was flowing from the holes in the shell.
I tenderly lifted the shell up, unable to believe what I saw happening, when I heard a soft, sickening plop. I looked down.
There lie Turtwig's organs in the pool of blood. His body was no-where to be seen. I was holding his shell, and sticky blood laced my hands.
The boy sighed from behind me.
Too bad. He had to die. It's your fault, you know. But enough of that...
Suddenly, I felt something dripping down my chin. I lifted one hand to touch the warm, sticky substance. I knew what it was before I even looked at my fingers. My own blood.
I soon felt it dripping from my ears, nose, the corners of my eyes...
I collapsed as I felt a tight squeeze within my chest. I couldn't breath. A heart attack? No... The boy was causing this, no doubt.
Just before my world went black, I remembered. Red. The legendary trainer from Kanto.
Too late...
It's really a shame. As he died, he remembered...
Well, he shouldn't have forgotten in the first place. He shouldn't have tried to replace me.
His body, as well as the Pokemon's was gone, the last traces of blood being washed away in the rain.
I won't be forgotten again... By anyone. Or they might be next.
But for now, that boy... Lucas. He will see what it's like to be dead to the world... Forgotten.
And undoubtedly replaced.
