A Sonnet Can Kill a Romance Stone Dead
Oh lady fair, I love your em'rald hair,
Your eyes so pure like sapphires shining,
Would you be but mine, oh my lady fair,
Know it is just for you I am pining,
Though your lovely face never turns my way
To the world, the stars, the depths of the sea,
I wish I could express my love and say
That you, my green haired love, were all for me,
How your cold spurns pierce my poor fragile heart
I am wounded, hurt, and a fool in love,
Like flaming arrows or a throwing dart,
You've ensnared me like a trap from above,
Lovely, beautiful, gorgeous, oh so fine,
Won't you please give me a chance and be mine?
