----------------------------------

I was looking for you, while stumbling along that cave opening. I needed you. I needed your help.

I looked around for you, and I thought I might never see you again.

Then came the sudden pain in my back. I couldn't think, or move, or breathe. My mouth opened as if I wanted to scream, but the only sound produced was a weak whimper.

I could see it all happening. My already weak body fell limp into the rough arms of a giant arachnid. I couldn't feel my body, but I could feel the cold hand of panic take hold of my heart.

And I needed you.

Before I knew it, I was hidden in a white veil. The veil took the world from me, took away everything.

Then, I could hear you. And I heard myself fall. And I heard the fight.

I could hear you using my blade to fight off the beast. I could hear the monster screaming in pain, could hear the struggle.

Then, I heard you coming over to me.

You pulled the veil away. I saw your face.

"Don't leave me here alone," you said. "Don't go where I can't follow."

And you held me and you cried.

You thought I had left.

I was right there. Couldn't you see me? Or did the veil take me away?

Then, you were gone.

And the enemies were there. They sneered and spoke of the beast that had put the veil over me.

Where did you go?

I still need you, my friend, please come back!

The enemies took me away and my world went black.

...

I awoke in a cold tower, hands bound. My shirt was missing, and there was still evidence of that horrid veil lingering in my hair.

Where are you?

I heard voices behind me. I looked.

Two of the enemies arguing.

Where had you gone?

The enemies began to fight. I was frightened.

Another enemy stood over me with a blade. "I'm gonna bleed you like a stuck pig," he said.

Then I saw my blade come through his chest.

"Not if I stick you first," you said.

It was you. Finally.

And you helped me.

And we escaped.

And together we saved everything.

And the veil... the veil was gone.
