He could feel the Angel's eyes staring down his neck, making a chill run down his spine. Dean rested his forehead on his palms as he sat on the edge of the bed. "What should I do?" He asked with a sigh.
A voice came from a dark corner in the hotel room that they were in. "This is out of your control. There's nothing you can do, Dean."
"It's my brother! I can't just give up on him. I'm supposed to take care of him." Dean lifted his head and glared angrily at the black silhouette. A small part of him knew that Castiel was right – this was out of his control. But that responsibility he felt towards Sam was like any other ingrained habit, it wouldn't go away any time soon.
"It's gone too far. Your brother has embraced the demon blood that is running in his veins." Repulsion covered the words as they left Castiel's mouth. He stepped out from the shadows, revealing himself to the broken man in front of him. "He's a lost cause."
Dean sprung up from the bed. He had never before heard truer words being spoken, yet he was not capable of accepting it. "You can't say that! You can't talk about him like that!" In a matter of seconds, he had Castiel pinned up against the wall. His right hand holding a firm grip around the Angel's throath.
"Dean... Calm down." Castiel tilted his head to the right as he tried his best not to lose control. Their faces were only inches away from eachother. Dean's was full of rage and regret, while Castiel's seemed almost indifferent.
"You can't say..." Dean felt his knees getting weaker and weaker with each second that passed. Pearls of sweat ran along the sides of his face. "You can't say that." His voice broke at the last words and he fell down to Castiel's feet.
Castiel placed a warm hand on the top of Dean's head. "You're a fighter, Dean. In every sense of the word. You'll know what to do." As he spoke, Castiel was aware that they were in the middle of a raging war. He also knew that they had one of the key players on their side.

The wind blew open the rusty door, as it hit the barn. The two of them flashed a glance at the opening but quickly went back to their conversation.
"Are you listening to yourself, Sam? The world is ending. Ending! And you're worried about what you're brother will think?" Ruby glared at the tall man in front of her as she threw her arms in the air. It seemed absurd to her how someone could take into consideration what others would think of you in such a situation.
"I know... I just... He's my brother." Sam's eyes pleaded to the demon who seemed completely unaware of the love he felt for his own flesh and blood.
"Yeah, you said that before." With a sigh, Ruby turned her back on Sam. "I can't make you do anything you don't want to, Sam. Just know that you've got the ability to save billions of people, but only if you somehow manage to put them before Dean."
Their eyes met, feelings flashed across both of their faces. Anger, sadness, determination. Ruby broke the silence by sighing once again. She knew she wasn't getting anywhere with him. She turned and headed for the exit.
Before she left the hovel they were in, she turned to get one last look at the fragile boy. She admired his loyalty but that was something you could not afford in such a time. In a war you need to be cold and sacrificing. But that was something she could not say to his face. As much of a demon she might be, she could not stand seeing that hurt in his eyes.
"You're a fighter, Sam. You'll... You'll find a way." Turning her head, she walked out into the cold, as helpless as she had felt when she first arrived.
