Lauren walked into their home exhausted after a long day at the hospital. In the years since being freed from the fae she had begun working on her own kind again, splitting her time between research and surgery. She was truly happy with her new life but right now what she wanted most was to curl up on the couch with a good book and have a long peaceful sleep.
Sadly, it didn't appear that would be happening tonight. "Mommyyy!" she heard being yelled as soon as she closed the door. She turned just in time to catch the flying three year old in her arms after he had launched himself at her. Spinning Ethan around in her arms, Lauren peppered kisses all over his face, making the boy squeal in delight. As soon as she had put him down he began tugging her into the kitchen so that he could show her all the drawings he had made for her that day.
After spending a good fifteen minutes looking at the pictures and talking to her son, Lauren began looking around curiously.
"Ethan, it seems we're missing someone. Do you know where they are?" Lauren asked in her fake detective's voice.
Ethan burst out laughing and nodded his head eagerly. He put his finger to his lips and motioned for Lauren to follow him into the family room. Walking quietly, Ethan brought Lauren to the other side of the couch where the sight caused her to burst out laughing.
Bo was passed out on the bed, dead to the world, with stickers covering almost her entire body. At the sound of Lauren's laughter she woke with a start. "I'm up, I'm up" she exclaimed, trying to stand up quickly, only to fall back down.
Lauren, ever the doctor, quickly rushed over and forced her to sit for a minute. "Honey, be careful in your condition. We don't want you to hurt yourself. Or Charlotte, for that matter." Bo smiled and patted her belly.
"She isn't even here yet and I'm already exhausted from the extra kid" Bo joked.
"Well if she takes after you as much as Ethan does, I'd say we're going to have our hands full" Lauren joked as she leaned in for a kiss. Bo playfully turned her head in mock anger before giving her wife a proper welcome home kiss.
"Where's Kenzi? She's supposed to be helping you now that you're getting closer to your due date" Lauren asked as she began peeling stickers off of Bo's face, trying to hold in her laughter.
"I kicked her out. She was getting Ethan riled up instead of actually helping, and well, you can see how that went" Bo said pointing to herself.
"Yes, I see" Lauren said looking over at a giggling Ethan. I believe a punishment is in order, wouldn't you agree?"
"Yes, I was thinking a good tickling" Bo said as she began reaching for Ethan.
"No mama, no" Ethan squealed as he started to run around the couch. Unfortunately for him Lauren had anticipated this and quickly scooped his wiggling body up into her arms. She then deposited him onto Bo's lap and held him as he was being tickled silly by both of his mothers.
Once they let Ethan go to clean up his toys before supper, Lauren finally slumped down onto the couch beside her wife.
"Tough day at work babe," Bo asked while putting her feet on her wife's lap hoping for a foot rub.
Lauren laughed at the wiggling feet in front of her, and taking the hint, began massaging them. "No, it was just long. I was counting the time till I could come back home to you. I'm more anxious at work now with you so close to your due date" Lauren said.
"Well don't worry about a thing, I happen to know an amazing, sexy doctor who will take care of everything when the time comes" Bo said, as she removed her feet from her wife's lap and pulled her to cuddle against her on the couch.
Lauren laughed and leaned into Bo as a yawn escaped her. She kissed her neck as she snuggled in deeper. This life may seem boring now with less action and more screaming kids and carpools, but to them it was everything they could have hoped for and more. They got the picket fence, they had a son and a daughter on the way, and they had each other.
