Prologue
I looked out of my window. Where was he? It was already one, I mean, he usually came at least by midnight. It was pretty clear that Charlie went to bed pretty early. I hope nothing bad came up; the Volturi couldn't already be checking back…could they? My heart beat with fear.
I turned around, and turned my computer on quietly. Before it could load all the way, I felt an icy breath on my neck.
"I'm sorry I'm late," Edward said with a frown, "Charlie was having trouble falling asleep."
I sighed in relief. "It's okay," I breathed, "I thought something might have happened with the Volturi."
He stiffened. "What?" he demanded, "The Volturi? You've seen them? WHERE??"
I laughed softly. "I was just saying I was thinking of reasons why you could have been late. Its fine, Edward."
He breathed heavily. "Oh. Sorry. You look tired. Let's lay down," he suggested, pulling my wrist to my un-made bed. I blushed.
He didn't notice. I laid down, and he snuggled up next to me, cradling half of me in his arms. He kissed my neck. "You shouldn't worry so much," he advised, "Its un-healthy."
I smiled. "And having you around isn't?" I giggled softly, kissing him back. He laughed with an edge.
"I'm not disagreeing, sadly." He frowned, "But I won't hurt you Bella, I promise."
I snuggled closer. "I love you, Edward," I murmured into his soft and bare chest.
"You are my life now," he stated simply, like usual. But that was enough for me. I squeezed his hand as we kissed again.
We would have kept kissing until we heard a gasp. And it wasn't from either of us.
"What is this!" Charlie screeched, staring at me with an outraged expression, "You," he pointed at Edward, "Out. Now."
"Yes, sir," He said politly, and slipped past Charlie swiftly. I stared at my dad.
"Bella," he clenched his teeth together, "I trusted you."
I looked at him. "You know what Ch….dad?" I said, sure Edward was listening, "Im not a kid anymore. I can make my own choices."
Charlie stared at me harshly. "Not under my roof. You are forbidden to see him."
I frowned. "That's no fair, dad."
Charlie hunched his back. "It's my house Bells. You follow my rules. I can't believe you would do this behind my back."
I stood up and went over to my dresser and picked out two nice shirts and two airs of pants and stuffed them into my North face bag. Which already had my wallet and my important things.
"What are you doing?" Charlie demanded, blocking the door as I tried to get out.
"Moving out," I stated, ducking under him. "Goodbye dad." I looked at him one last time before running down the hallway. I threw open the front door and found Edward standing there as I had expected.
"You don't have to do this, Bella." He said, pulling me onto his back.
"Yes I do," I replied through choked tears, "I can't live without seeing you."
Edward kissed my neck. "Alright Bella," he agreed, as he sped off into the darkness.
I stiffened. "Wait,"I demanded. He stopped sharp and I rubbed my head. "Ouch."
"Sorry," he said with a frown, "What happened."
"What about my truck," I asked, fingering the keys in my jeans pocket.
Edward smiled at me. "I'll buy you a new car."
"Thanks," I grinned, "So…what are we going to do?"
Edward looked at me blankly. "My room, is your room."
"Where will you live then?" I teased as I kissed him. "Thanks."
"No problem," he smiled as we sped off again into the sheer darkness, leaving my previous home and father behind.
