This is just the battle scene ending slightly differently but also similarly. I just had to write it.
Peter stood and countered a blow from a large enemy. He turned slightly in the direction he had seen Edmund go to leave. He wanted to make sure his siblings were safe.
Peter didn't see him and turned back to begin fighting the enemy once more, suddenly he heard what sounded like Edmund behind him. 'Why couldn't he just leave like I told him', Peter thought frustratively.
He quickly snuck a glance and saw Edmund smash the Witch's staff, he couldn't help feeling a sudden bolt of pride through him.
But it was knocked right out of him when everything began going in slow motion, and he saw the Witch deflect Edmund's attack and plunge her broken staff into his stomach.
He was shocked until he saw his brother's face scrunch in pain and couldn't hold back his scream, "Edmund!". He watched his brother fall and felt a flash of anger through him.
Peter lunged, solidly at the enemy he had been fighting, desperate to get to the Witch and kill her.
He finished off the enemy and moved on to the next until he had defeated all in his path to the Witch. Peter swung his sword but was blocked, just like Edmund. But unlike his brother he also had a shield and blocked her second attack.
He was beginning to loose his energy when he heard a familiar roar. Lossing his focus, the Witch got the upper hand and pinned him down with her second sword. Peter was sure he was dead and then there was a flash and the Witch was gone.
Peter stood and looked to his left to see Aslan definitely beating the Witch. Turning 180 degrees he saw a fresh wave of soldiers running by him. Everything was still going in slow motion and Peter felt dazed from the earlier adrenaline rush.
He was quickly snapped out of it though when he heard his name and felt Lucy slam into him with a back breaking hug.
Reality suddenly came ack to him when Susan spoke, "Where's Edmund?"
Peter looked to the direction his brother was in and they all rushed over to the prone body.
Susan sat near his head and removed his helmet. She checked for a pulse and gasped.
"Edmund? Edmund!" She started to cry and brought Lucy in for a hug, as she was also crying.
Peter couldn't believe what had happened, how could he live with himself knowing Edmund had died saving him.
Suddenly Peter felt a pressence from behind him and turned swiftly to see Aslan.
He stood and moved out of his way, as if in a trance. Aslan strode confidently to Edmund and raised his paw, it was glowing brightly and slowly brought it down on Edmund's chest.
Peter and his sisters had to shield their eyes from the light that exploded everywhere.
But as quickly as it came, the light was gone and Aslan swung his head to Lucy. He nodded to her injury syrum and walked away to help his frozen soldiers.
Lucy rushed over to Edmund and allowed a drip of the syrum into his mouth. At first nothing happened and all was silent. There was a sudden gasp and everyone looked at the youngest brother. Edmund was in a small coughing fit, but Peter was just glad he was alive.
Edmund's coughing fit subsided and Peter quickly pulled his younger brother into his arms, letting tears of joy run down his face.
Susan and Lucy joined into the hug too and Peter noticed Edmund smiling.
He pulled away and smiled, "When are you going to learn to just do as your told?"
Peter pulled back into a hug, this time only with his brother and whispered, "Thanks Edmund."
"Just don't make me do that again." Edmund spoke quietly.
Peter pulled away and helped Ed stand, both kings and queens walked on to help the wounded and to begin their lives in Narnia.
Kinda different from the movie, I thought it was just as good. It was just something I wrote because it bothers me how easily everything goes for the Pevensie's. Everything always works out and I guess I'm being kinda a hypocrite. Oh well.
