This is my first story and it probably will be terrible. Any comments advice would be appreciated. I have been reading loads of these stories and I thought why not I will have a go.
Inspector Gina Gold had just about finished briefing the relief when PC Dunbar came in, she wasn't normally late but that didn't mean that Inspector Gold was going to be easy on her.
"Good afternoon PC Dunbar, nice of you to join us", Gina said in a slightly cold way. She then went on to finish briefing the team.
"Kerry you work with Honey, Smithy with Tony, and Andrea with Gary"
They all got up to leave and Andrea was called back to have a word with the Inspector.
"Sorry ma'am, the traffic was terrible . . ." Andrea tried to explain, Gina cut her off before she could finish.
"Everybody else managed to get here right on time" Gina stated.
"It won't happen again ma'am"
"It had better not, anyway that's not why I called you back, the DI wants to speak with you, I think that he wants you and Gary to help in CID for the next few days, he is very short staffed"
Andrea did not know whether to be pleased or disappointed, on one hand she would get to spend more time with Neil but on the other it was still only a casual fling and she kept forgetting the fact that he was married. She left the briefing room and Gary was waiting outside for her.
"Up to CID" he said, "I dunno about you but that's where I want to end up"
"I am happy being in uniform for the minute, I had not really thought about the future" She replied.
They climbed up the stairs and went through the set of double doors that led into CID, Neil was at the other end of the room, Andrea tried to catch his attention to share a smile, but for some reason he was avoiding her gaze. Andrea was confused.
DS Hunter came up to them.
"I hear that you are helping out in CID, get me a coffee then" he said half flirting with PC Dunbar.
Andrea jokingly flirted back, "dream on serge, get your own" She added a cheeky smile and then realised that in the background Neil had stopped doing and was staring with a look of jealousy on his face. Andrea was only teasing with Phil but at least now she knew that DI Manson had some feelings towards her. Although they weren't getting coffees, she and Gary were stuck helping out with paperwork, Andrea helping DS Hunter and Gary DS Nixon.
About an hour later Andrea was just about to leave for refs she heard that familiar voice that sent a shiver down her spine.
"PC Dunbar, can I have a word in my office please"
She went in and closed the door.
"I don't appreciate you being all over DS Hunter all the time, you are here to work" He spoke crossly.
Andrea gasped "There's nothing going on"
"I have seen you all day, laughing and joking with him, doing everything for him, need I go on" Neil almost shouted.
"You are so irritating" she replied.
She then leaned in and kissed him quickly, she pulled away and then kissed him more passionately, he didn't object. She realised that refs would be over by now and that DS Hunter would be wondering where she was so she pulled away. There was a knock on the door. They both froze, in came Superintendant Okaro. They had separated but they were still quite close together. They were wondering how much the Super had seen and if he was picking up on the fact that they looked very guilty and embarrassed.
