Author's Note:This is just an idea I had, about Peris and Tally. We don't know much about their friendship. It's a one shot. Reviews are, as always, very appreciated.
"Peris! Where are you?" Tally whispered sharply, eyes scanning the darkness. "Over here, Squint!" came the reply, and she followed the sound of her best friend's voice to the source. Peris was leaning against a tree near an old Rusty era bridge. "What's this?" she asked, looking at the bridge with raised eyebrows. "Bridges tell." Peris grinned widely. "Not this one, Tally. It's Rusty era, see?" He scraped a finger across part of it, and Tally watched as flakes of rust fell from the metal. "So there's no minders, and it won't report trespassers. It's perfect for sneaking into New Pretty Town."
Tally nodded thoughtfully, thinking of their friends in New Pretty Town, partying and drinking and having fun, while she and Peris were cold and bored. He leaned down and grabbed something invisible to her, and she heard a wet thunk as something landed in the water. She watched while Peris pulled on the invisible line until it became a wet, knotted cord. She felt a smile spread slowly across her face, filing this information away for a later date. Peris taught her how to swing over easily, and she quickly picked it up.
Two days after that expedition, Peris turned pretty. And Tally was alone, to spy on people by herself. And it wasn't half as much fun.
