Title: Failed Confession

Author: Sven Fenette, the Awesome

Summary: "I love you . . ." ". . . Don't lie to yourself, Sakura-chan . . ."; The Princess moved on from the Prince and she fell for the Knight, but in the end . . . it turned into another broken heart.

Once upon a time, there was a Princess who loved a handsome Prince. . .

Haruno Sakura looked up at the darkened sky. The stars scattered around the obsidian sky. A small pained smile made it's way on her face. As she watched the twinkling diamonds that formed a constellation overhead, she wondered about the things regarding herself.

Sakura knows that she hasn't been the best teammate or friend to Naruto (or to anyone else) back in her Genin days. But she likes to think that she had changed. She likes to think that she at the very least, mature.

She got her heart broken by the Prince . . . He betrayed the kingdom . . .

She knows that she had broken Naruto's heart plenty of times before. She knows that she'd hurt him when she brutally rejected his advances. But that didn't mean she'd just lie about something so . . . so pure for her.

A confession.

"I love you . . ."

". . . Don't lie to yourself, Sakura-chan . . ."

That was what she did. Regardless of her intention, Sakura had been honest. She always found a love confession so pure. It may be crazy and a delusion, but she does. She knows that in the world of Shinobis, the moment that they became Chunin (Heck, even when they turned Genin) they had already been tainted. Being a Ninja is a dirty job passed from one person to another. She knows that.

Years passed and she began to fall for her friend, the Knight . . .

But still . . .

Sakura is a Kunoichi. Even if she no longer believes in things like true love and fairy tale ending ('Happily Ever After', she used to fantisize about that), Sakura knows better than to lie about a love confession.

But he turned her down . . . Even after all those, the Knight believed what he wanted to believe . . . The Princess loves the Prince . . . She'd never look at a Knight's way . . .

Why?

Beacuse she'd been hurt before. And she'd promise herself, when she finally move on and fall for someone else . . she would only confess her love to that one guy she falls for.

Just Him.

No one else.

Pit.

Pat.

It started to rain but she didn't move from the base of the tree where she sat. It poured down her face. Her hair was damped. Her clothes clung to her skin. But she didn't move.

The Princess smiled . . .

She let out a scream of frustration. She hugged her knees closer to her chest. Tears streamed down her face but it was unnoticable. The rain and her tears became one. She let out a wail of pain, of sorrow, of another broken heart.

And yet her heart was torn to pieces . . .

She let her head fall down. Her hand reached to rake her pink locks. She held her hair tightly, as if trying to pull it. She began to sob.

Her heart ached . . . Dimly, she wondered why she still believed in love when all it brings her is pain . . .

Sakura wasn't going to lie.

It hurts. Just like with Sasuke. If not, maybe more than it did back then.

Sakura looked at her reflection from the puddle that had formed near her. A bitter smile made it's way on her face.

It was the second time her heart had been broken. She fell once, it hurts. She fell a second time and she felt as if the world hates her. If she'd be hurt a third time, Sakura knows that her poor aching heart may not be able to take more of it.

In the end, the Princess thought, maybe she just wasn't made to be loved . . .
