Author's Note: This is based in Rising Shadow timeline, after the battle with Nebilim. It's just a short piece of romance involving Kratos and Raine. Since it's based after Rising Shadow, it'll contain spoilers for the fic.
The name was inspired by Heero's image song 'Flying Away'. The fic itself was inspired by Josh Groban's 'When You Say You Love Me'.

Oh, how he loved the feel of the wind against his skin.
It was a beautiful, sunny day in the sky above Altamira. Far below, there lay a bustling resort town filled with tourists and beachgoers. But up above, it was unearthly silent... with the exception of the wind blowing past Kratos, he heard practically nothing.
But there was something else up there in the sky with him.
Those long, curved, occasionally branched feathers that streamed out behind him were made of pure mana, colored a crystalline blue and radiating brilliant light. Despite their magical nature, they caught the air just like real physical wings, keeping him high above the city and the ocean below.
He had convinced Raine to join him in the air above, even though she hated the water and simply looking at it made her worry. However, she enjoyed his presence, the presence that sheltered her wherever she went.
Her own wings were brilliant and complicated; from the base outward, they were composed of numerous almost perfectly formed, diamond-shaped feathers, with long and thin teardrop-shaped feathers catching the wind at the end. They were of the most brilliant silver, shining and glimmering with their own light.
The two soared together, occasionally crossing paths. And every so often, they would catch each other's eyes and just float there, caught in the moment.
His were of the most stunning, brilliant brown in color, only a little darker than his auburn hair. Hers were of a brilliant crystal blue, almost reflecting the very sky's color itself.
And then, floating in midair high above Altamira, they embraced, an angelic embrace that could only be described as perfect to the two companions. The warmth from their wings could be felt all around them, carried by the wind and by the breezes caused by the wings themselves. And as their eyes fell upon each other, locked as firmly as their embrace, they kissed, a deep, passionate one that felt like heaven to both partners.
They had become lovers long ago, but it was just like their very first. Sharing their own, special private time together, way up above, floating amongst the clouds themselves...
It was like heaven. And they were even angels.
Almost as quickly as the kiss had begun, it ended, and in silence, the two parted ways. They descended upon Altamira once more, enjoying the feel of the wind against their skin.

Author's Note: The name may sound similar to 'Fly Away', but trust me, they're two completely different fanfics. This is a oneshot and won't have a sequel (unless you count 'To Kill An Angel').
