Morning came to fast for the lovebirds that spent most of their nights together. Neither ever rolled out of bed quickly to see each other, but lately the urge to do so had become greater.
Scott knew that his funny behavior around Shelby was growing obvious but he wanted to keep things the way they were. If he had the chance he'd keep them that way forever. But, as Scott knew, nothing really goes the way someone wants it to. All he needed was a time that would make it as painless for Shelby as possible. He knew that this would break her heart, and he needed to be there to help glue it back together.
Scott tried to think of a way to tell her…… but he didn't want to think about it. He threw on some clothes, brushed his teeth and walked out the door. He decided to love her while she let him. He began to walk up the girl cabin steps when Shelby flew into him. She was hurrying to catch him so she could walk to breakfast with him.
"Did I ever tell you crashing into you is one of my favorite things to do?" Scott asked with playful eyes.
"No, but I can only imagine that if bumping into you makes you happy what will happen if I……" she said this as she leaned closer to kiss him. The kiss didn't last three seconds before they heard a voice that they knew would completely ruin the mood.
"I always wondered where they put the noses when people do that. Thanks for showing me guys." David approached them, smiling wickedly. "Hey Shelby, ya know, if I have any more doubts about where to put other things when I'm with a girl could ya-"
Scott was half way down his throught before he could finish the sentence.
"Hey, hey, hey! I was just kidding! She knows that! But just in case she doesn't, do me a favor Scott, don't tell her kay?"
"Ummm, excuse me, Satan's little helper, but I'm standing right here. If you don't want me to hear I'd suggest not talking. It works best." Shelby said this with a sharpness neither Scott or David missed.
"Owell" said David casually, "Either one of you know where Ezzy is? Man I missed that boy!"
Scott looked at him trying to figure out whether the last statement was a lie or the truth. "Just beat it man." This was the only thing that he could think of other than smacking the kid.
"Hey I have no problem with that" David said slyly, "I'm out."
Shelby took Scott's hand and led the way to the cafeteria. They got their tray and sat down. It was still early so they weren't expecting any other cliffhangers for at least another 15 minutes.
Scott thought about telling her his regrets about the summer, but decided against it. Not this early in the morning. It'll give her more time to avoid you during the rest of the day anyway.
Scott thought there was no way of Shelby finding out about what he had done other than through him. But, like I said, that's only what he thought and nothing really goes the way people really want them to.
