THIS IS A LITTLE ONESHOT THAT JUST POPPED INTO MY HEAD.

DON'T OWN IT.

The fact that Tony had invited Ziva to his house for pizza didn't mean anything. It was just two co-workers -friends- hanging out after work. But still, Ziva couldn't shake the feeling of uneasiness.

"Tony." She said.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Ray, he uh, told me he was going to, um, propose." Ziva said nervously.

"What?" Tony said in disbelief. "When?"

"When he gets back." Ziva replied.

"Oh. What are you going to say?" Tony asked.

"I-I don't know." Ziva stammered.

"He's a great guy, and clearly cares about you." Tony said. He almost puked at the words.

"He lied to me, Tony. Saying that he wants to protect me doesn't cut it. If her cared, he'd know that I don't want protection." Ziva said, taking a sip of her beer.

"What would you say if he hadn't lied to you?" Tony asked.

"I don't know." She said.

"Why not?" Tony pressed.

"Because, Tony, it is extremely complicated!" Ziva yelled in frustration.

"I can help you think it through." Tony suggested. After a moment, Ziva said,

"It is exactly what I want. Something permanent. I do love him, but I also love you." She said it. She said the forbidden words. It's what they both had wanted to voice for so long, but were too afraid.

"You… Love me?" Tony knew it was lame. But it was all he could say.

"Yes." Ziva said, looking down sheepishly.

"Thanks for finally saying it. Right back at you." He said.

"Really?" Ziva asked, eyes lighting up. God, she couldn't get over how totally cliché this was.

"So, how's this gonna work?"

"I could break up with Ray again. But what if we don't work out?"

"Don't break up with CIA Ray. I was just starting to like him. Just ask him if, while he's away, you could date me? When he comes back, you can choose. And if we get married before he comes back, then that's great." Tony said.

"I really think we're going to work out, Tony." Ziva said.

"Does this mean you're breaking up with him?" Tony asked hopefully.

"Yes."

"Woohoo! No more CIA Ray!" Tony yelled.
