This is my first re:ZERO post. I hope it isn't too bad!
Enjoy~ ;)
I am happy.
"Emilia-tan!" Subaru-kun ran to the silver haired bishoujo, hugging her tightly. "I missed you so much! It wasn't the same without you!"
Rem stiffened, and her hands' grip on each other tightened. Her neutral expression started to melt into a frown.
"Subaru-kun!" Emilia-sama reciprocated the hug, her fingers getting lost in his hair. Tears started to flow. "I was so worried about you... I'm so sorry.."
I bet it would be the same if I was gone.
Rem lowered her gaze a little bit, her eyes darkening. She trembled with jealousy and sorrow.
"I was thinking, we could take a little walk around this area," Subaru-kun finally pulled away from the hug, a little reluctantly. He twiddled his thumbs nervously, "Emilia-tan, is it so bad? Or.."
Emilia-sama shook her head immediately, and wiped her happy tears away. "Mm, that isn't so bad, Subaru-kun." She tucked her hair behind her hair and bit her lip, "as long as we stay away from the villagers, it'll be fine.."
Subaru pumped his fists in the air, "yosh! A date with EMT! E~M~T! Emila-tan Major Fai-ry!" He stopped when he noticed the bluenette in the corner of his eye. "Ah, Rem, wanna come too? It'll be super fun!"
No, I can't think these negative things.
Rem looked up at the mention of her name, a confused expression taking over, "huh?"
"Trust me, it'll be fun! We can pick flowers, look at the sky and uh-.." Subaru-kun started trailing off, and it went quiet for a few seconds, "trust me, I'll make it the best hangout ever!"
Rem cocked her head to the side slightly in confusion, "doesn't Subaru-kun want to be with Emilia-sama, alone?" Her voice went softer, "after all, you could start sorting out your relationship.."
I have to be happy for Subaru-kun.
Emilia-sama watched on with concern for the petite maid. "I'm going to go head back, I'll let you two sort this out. Rem, it's fine if you come along, there's no problem," She smiled at them warmly and turned, "I'll see you tomorrow, Subaru-kun."
Subaru-kun waved at her retreating form, then turned to face Rem again, "are you okay, Rem?" He frowned at me worriedly. "It's fine if you come, it wouldn't be the same without you.."
"I will be fine, Subaru-kun," she gave a little hopeful smile to him, "just as long as you are. I will stay back and look after your belongings."
Subaru-kun grinned at Rem, a little apologetically, a little thankfully. "Thank you, Rem." Before he headed off, he said a couple more words, "take care of yourself while we're gone. We'll be going in the morning, and I expect us to be back by nightfall."
Even if it means sacrificing my real emotions.
"I will be fine, Subaru-kun." Rem repeated, nodding to the male in front of her, "I should be heading back now. Have a good night, Subaru-kun." She struggled to keep a steady pace as she walked back.
It was hard for her not to break into a sprint as the loneliness gnawed at her heart.
Subaru-kun stared at her, thoughts swimming, before walking off to plan out the date.
...
The next morning, Rem watched from her window as a nicely dressed Subaru-kun held Emilia-sama's hand as he guided her to all the locations he had planned out the previous night. The longing returned when she saw them laugh at Subaru-kun's inaudible joke, and she clutched her chest.
She shook her head, and calmed herself down.
I am happy.
