Inspired by Ed Sheeran's Small Bump In the Goldfish and Grandma Universe

We were sitting in the hospital waiting room. My mom had woken up with pain in the middle of the night and Ma decided to drive her to the hospital. You see, she was five months pregnant. I guess after thirteen years with me they wanted to try for another one.

I was sitting against the wall because the emergency room was crowded. I didn't like being around a lot of people, my Ma said it was because of my Asperger's but I'm not sure.

I see my Ma stand up and walk over to her. "What is it Ma?"

"Cris," she says, hugging me then wiping the brown curls out of her face.

"What's wrong with Mom," I ask.

I see my Ma wipe away tears. She never cries.

"Ma," I ask, a single tear falling from my eye.

I see the doctor come over and I face her. "Mrs. Rizzoli, Cristof, sit down."

I do as the doctor says, biting my lip nervously. I think back to all the medical textbooks I had read and try to rule out the worse.

"Mrs. Rizzoli-Isles…"

"Doctor," I interrupt, "she's a doctor."

The doctor smiles at me, "Doctor Rizzoli-Isles came in this evening with stomach pains. I'm sorry to say but your baby didn't make it. If you would like you may see Dr. Rizzoli-Isles now."

I turn to my ma not sure how to react. I see her put her head in her hands. "Ma," I say, awkwardly patting her back.

"It'll be okay, Cris," she says and pats my knee, "You wanna see your Mom."

"No," I shake my head, knowing I'm not good with emotion.

I watch my ma walk down the hallway and put my earbuds in. My iPod plays the last bit of the song I was listening to last and I chuckle nervously to myself, how appropriate.

''Cause you were just a small bump unborn for four months then torn from life.

Maybe you were needed up there but we're still unaware as why.'

AN: I know this deals with a serious subject and I know that Cris seems like he didn't act appropriately. You have to remember that Cris doesn't know how to react to situations in which emotion plays a major part. I'm also sorry if you were expecting something like Goldfish and Grandma, my friend/crush introduced me to Ed Sheeran this week and this song really inspired me to write. Also if you send me prompts for Goldfish and Grandma I will probably be able to update sooner.
