I watch him. I sit there and watch him. He looks beautiful in this dream. His black hair, his pale skin, his lean muscles and runes that is visible under his thin white cotton shirt. He had long, angelic wing as white as snow. I don't know who he is, but he looks astonishing.
I wake up to my ear-killing alarm at 5:30 AM to start my training. I quickly change into my training gear, grab a nutria-grain bar from under my bed, and head to the training room. I run up the stairs to the top floor and meet Max at the door.
"Ready?" he asks.
"Ready."
He pushes the door open and walks inside and meets Jace (his dad) inside.
"Why don't we begin?" Jace says.
"That was fun" said Max as we left the training room sweaty and breathing hard. " We make an unstoppable team." We headed down the stairs to our rooms.
"Any team with me on it is unstoppable."
Max laughed even though I was being serious. "Hey, I heard a new guy was coming. He's an orphan too. You could have someone to relate to."
"Great. That's exactly what I need."
Sixteen years ago I was brought to the institute in a basket with a note. It said that I was a shadow hunter, born on October 15th, and almost a year old. Technically I should have been sent to an orphanage, but Clary and Jace pulled a few strings and the clave let me stay at the New York Institute. Ever since, I was raised there like their own child even though they already have a pair of twins (Max and Callum) and a 6 year old daughter (Jocelyn.) Izzy and Simon also live in the institute too. They have a boy named Levi who is seventeen. Max and Levi have been like my two older brothers, but Callum is a bit more than that…
"And also, I've been making out with your boyfriend behind your back. Sorry, I'm gay and have a thing for my twin." Max said sarcastically.
"Hold up. You're gay?"
"Now you start listening to what I say. Geez. And no I am not gay. I also don't have a thing for my twin. That would be gross." He made a face.
"Yeah, plus you would never make out with my boyfriend behind my back, because if I found out I'd knee you several times where the sun does not shine." I said with a sly grin.
"Knee to the groin? No thanks." We laughed and stood by my door.
"See you at breakfast." I said.
"Adios."
I look at my reflection in the mirror and pulled my hair up in a ponytail. I'm really pretty. Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not that type of girl who is always complaining that she's not pretty even when she is. I put a bit of make up on and head out the door. I walk down the hallway to the kitchen. Usually when it's just us or an extra person we eat there. Clary only likes to use the dinner table on special occasions. When I walk into the kitchen I hear Izzy asking questions.
"So Thomas, you're traveling the world?"
"Yeah." An unfamiliar voice said. "This is my first stop."
"There really isn't much to see here." Said Simon. "But there is a good taco joint with food to die for."
"How come you never complement my food like that?"
"Well, he probably would if it was safe to eat." Said Jace.
"Come in Alex. Don't just stand there." Said Clary. Everyone turned to look at me, even the new guy. He looked familiar. I thought and thought and realized the impossible. I ran back to my room. It was the angel boy.
