Goodbye's are never easy, they never have and never will be. REV heaved a sigh as he smoothed out a wrinkle in his jacket sleeve, seated at the end of his bed. Today, his sister was leaving to join a Vocaloid family. He was happy for her, but it was going to be hard parting ways with the girl he grew up so close to. A glance at the clock on his dresser told him it was almost 3 o'clock. Half an hour until it was time.
A small knock on his door caught his attention. "REV? Are you in there..?"
"Yeah, come in." He replied as a red-headed girl slipped into his room, carrying something behind her back.
"I brought you something, I guess as a way to say goodbye." She spoke softly, walking forward to stand in front of him. Her hands were trembling as she handed her brother a small stack of photographs.
"…Thanks, CUL. I'll look at them la–" REV was about to set the photos on the bed when she grabbed his wrist, stopping him.
"No! I w-want you to look at them now."
"Alright, I'll look at them. Don't see why you don't want me to wait, though.." REV pulled his hand away from the mattress and CUL released his wrist to allow him to flip through them.
Looking down at the first photo, REV remembered the day it was taken. They both were only 5, and master had taken them and a few others out to get ice cream and head to the park. A smile crossed his face as he flipped to the next photo. It was after master had finally agreed to teach them how to ride a bike. He could still hear master's sigh of annoyance as he gave in to get them to shut up about bicycles.
As REV continued flipping through the photos, he found it getting harder and harder to fight back his tears as he realized that she wouldn't be able to create any more memories with him after today. Tears blurring his vision, he allowed the precious memories captured in photographs to escape his grip and flutter to the ground.
REV pulled his little sister into a tight hug, cursing himself for being as weak as to cry in front of her despite his efforts not to.
"I don't want you to go.." REV whimpered as CUL wriggled her arms free enough from his grip to return his hug.
"You think I wanted to go with out you? I tried to get them to take you with me, but they wouldn't allow it." CUL whispered quietly.
"CUL! Your ride's here! You better get a move on it." Both of them heard Yukari's voice drift up from downstairs, which only caused REV to cling to CUL tighter.
"Please don't go!" REV wailed as his sister desperately tried to squirm out of his grip.
"REV, please… Let me go." REV could hear her voice quivering, she was close to crying with him. With a little more movement, she freed herself from his death grip of a hug. CUL smiled a little and knelt down, gathering up the photographs before handing them back to REV.
"I have to get going, thanks for being a great big brother.." CUL turned around and started walking for the door while REV stared down wordlessly at the pictures in his hands. He began to wonder if he would ever get to see his sister again as his door clicked shut behind her.
