Hey everyone! This is my very first Shima fic (Well, first dedicated entirely that pairing that is. Tere were also some spippets of ShikixRima in New Future). This fic is written for and dedicated to FallingSnowDream who requested a Shiki and Rima fic. Thank you for reading my stories!

Important note: This story is based on VK chapter 41 (Forty-First Night: Artemis). The story will probably still make sense if you haven't read the chapter, but if you know what is happening at the time, the overall setting seems to be a bit more clear.

Also, I want to apologize for how short this is, but it is my first story focusing mainly on these two characters. I wanted to try delving into Shiki's thoughts without going overboard and getting too OOC. If this is really bad, please forgive me!

When She Sleeps

"Rima..."

Shiki whispers her name, as he stares at her peaceful face.

When Rima sleeps, Shiki cannot help but watch her. Because she dazzles him.

Every word she speaks, when she is talking to him and only him. Every pose she strikes at their photo shoots. Everything about her was simply...

Captivating.

If she had been aware of it, the intensity with which he was staring at her might have been unsettling.

But Shiki was unable to look away. He was almost sure that Rima was the most beautiful person to ever exist.

Why did she care about someone like him...? He could not help but wonder.

'Shiki! You should love yourself more!'

Of course, it only seemed natural that her words were the only thing capable of freeing him from his father's posession.

Rima stirred slightly, he looked away, and pretended to be transfixed with staring at the wall.

As soon as he looked away from her, he heard his father's words ringing in his head. 'Senri... If you don't want to make your mother worry, live quietly... Like a doll.'

If I live quietly, will it protect Rima? Or only you, father? he thought to himself, quietly.

He turned back to Rima. Still, she did not open her eyes.
