AN: Gah! Another angsty fic! This could be pretty much any fandom/pairing at all, but I had Noah/Cody in mind when I wrote this. It's pretty short, but I kinda like it.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything that you even remotely recognize.
It was late January when he passed away. We went for a walk in the park, and were just heading back when it happened. He told me it wasn't safe to go into the ally way short cut, and I just rolled my eyes and pulled him in.
It all happened too fast for me to remember. I can only remember brief flashes, the shimmer of a knife, a scream-which I later realized to be mine-, the flashing lights of a police car, someone shaking my shoulders, and a blackout. But the thing I remember the most, what I can picture the clearest, was his eyes, his beautiful eyes, when he gazed at me for the last time. They were filled with hope. Of all things, out of fear, despair, dread, they were filled with hope.
I can only remember one thing after the blackout, what I presume to be a dream, probably brought on by the shock. It was white, white as far as I could see. I could see faint outlines of shapes, but when I looked harder, they were gone. I was sitting, cross legged, and a I sat there for who knows how long, but I still sat, waiting for something, I just wasn't sure what yet. I wasn't sure until he walked up.
He was dressed in all white. It was a simple shirt and pants, but as white as the space around me. He had one of his half smiles adorning his face, his hands stuffed in his pockets as he walked nonchalantly over to me.
"You're going to have to go back sooner or later, you are aware of that, right?"
"Later is fine with me." Was that me? I sounded so… calm, a complete contrast to the turmoil I was feeling on the inside. He shook his head, his lips still quirked up in a lazy grin.
"Yeah, they warned me you would say that." They? Who were they? He stopped right in front of me, and squatted down so his face was level with mine, and his smile faded away. "Hey." He breathed. "How're you doing?"
"Bad." He smiled a tiny smile, and it slipped off his face again.
"It'll be okay. You'll find someone else."
"I don't want someone else." I said, and I broke. I pulled him against me, burying my face in his chest. "I want you." I mumbled, but he still heard me.
"You'll always have me." He said, tightening his grip around me a little. "You always had me."
"Can I take you back with me?" He chuckled silently, but I could feel it.
"I'm afraid not."
"Then I don't wanna go back." At this he pulled back, his hands on my shoulders as he looked at me with a serious expression.
"You're going back. You can't stay here. I won't let you." I just nodded, his tone telling me that there was no way I could argue. His hands relaxed a little. "Hey," he spoke again, placing his right hand over my heart. "Take care of this, will you? I don't want it getting broken."
"It's already shattered." I said, stating the truth.
"Shattered, maybe, but never broken." He said, confusing me.
"What is that supposed to mean-" I was cut off by a beeping sound, at which he looked up, solemn, and nodded.
"I have to go now. But you'll see me around, in places." I protested, and he cut me off with a short kiss. "Bye." He said, and walked away, fading as he went. I stared after him, whispering a good bye of my own.
"I love you."
AN: Aw… I think I'm crying. And I'm the one who wrote it. Wah! –sniff-
Wow. Six-o-seven words. Not even an even six hundred. Ah well, I like it.
So yeah, review, tell me what you thought of it, eat pickles, whatever.
