"What part of 'NO' do you NOT get, Fang?!"
"Everything. For Gods' sake, Light. You're a LADY. You NEED dresses."
"No, I do NOT."
"Yes you do. Every lady wants to look pretty."
"I don't."
"That's bullshit and you know it."
"Fang..."
"You know I'm right, Lightning Farron."
"You're not going to leave me alone until I say yes, are you."
"Quite right."
"Fine, but on one condition."
A sigh.
"Name it."
*
"...Fang, why do I have to go along?"
"Well, you're collateral damage."
"Cola-WHAT?"
"Okay, well, Light wouldn't go out shopping if you didn't come along."
"Why ME?"
"Ask Light."
"Wait, why did nobody ask me MY opinion?"
"Because we're older than you."
"...What."
*
"Fang, I'm really beginning to question your taste in clothes."
"Here, Light, try this one."
"Oh what - no way, Fang. Just...no."
"Just. Try. It."
A shove.
"Alright, alright, fine. Don't get so pushy."
The changing room door swings open a few minutes later.
"So...uh. Verdict?"
He makes a strange face.
"...Errr."
"Just say it, Hope. It makes me look skanky."
He nods, not wanting to say anything.
"See? Hope agrees with me, Fang."
"But it makes you look hot, Light!"
"No, it does not! I look like..."
"We-ell, I suppose there's skanky hot and high-class hot. But hot is hot!"
"I'd rather look cold than...like this."
"Oh please, Light - the dresses YOU picked make you look like a damn nun."
"So let Hope pick then."
Both women turn to the silver-haired youth.
"Huh? Wait, ME? No!!...Do I HAVE to?"
"Yes, or Light's going to skin me if I choose another."
"...Why me?"
He glances at the racks, and casually picks up one.
"Uhm...here, Light."
"Oh, this looks promising."
Rinse, and repeat. Fang lets out a whistle. Lightning glances at herself in the mirror.
"I...actually like this one."
"You put that one back earlier, you know. It's not because Hope chose it, is it?"
"No, I really honestly do like this one."
Hope blinks.
"If you liked it, Light, why didn't you pick it in the first place?"
Lightning gives him a grin.
"I guess I just wanted someone else to think I'd look nice in it, too."
Sometimes all we really want, is to be assured that the choices we have made are the ones that are right.
